  1. As a former teammate of Jimmal Ball, I can tell you that his vertical leap was around 35''. I watched him test it every year in preseason. Vertical leap testing, as done at the combines, are not always good indicators as to how high an athlete can jump. Jimmal could obviously fly. The best leaper that I ever played with by far. The true vertical test, is a standing, feet side by side, jump straight up. The athlete is not allowed the standard 1 step and jump. This makes it very difficult to get very high, even for Jimmal. As for Henniger and Egner, I have mixed feeling about them. I have said from day 1 that Henniger has a good shot to get to score 1,000 points at Can't. He is very smart, disciplined and really good around the basket. He has a nose for the ball, always seems to get lose balls and rebounds around the basket. I love his game. Great kid, great family. He will be a great student-athlete at Can't, something Geno needed desperately for their program. Egner is a stud athlete. Very long, very good shot blocker. Great offensive rebounder. Be ready for lots of put-back dunks over the next 4 years. Tough kid with an attitude, but in a good way. He is cocky and most opposing teams and fans hate him, but he feeds of that. He will bring an attitude, big time athleticism and toughness to Akron that they desperately need. I can guarantee he will quickly become a fan favorite if KD can channel his emotions to benefit the team, which I think he will be able too. I dont see Egner as a 1,000 point guy, but he is the guy Akron needed more of the 2 players, if that makes any sense. I would take them both on my team.
  2. Zeke breaks record for blocks in a game tonight with 10.
  3. McKnight, Roberts and Conyers all graduate. Egner and Green will use 2 of the scholarships, that would leave one more available. Why is there confusion as to where the scholarship is coming from? Am I missing something here? The confusion surrounds whether or not Roberts has 1 or 2 years left. And if he regains his 4th year of eligibility, does Roberts keep the Parrish scholarship or is on a 1 year basis?Conyers was listed as a senior last year, as Roberts is now. But he got the year back. Question is whether or not Roberts does the same. Thanks for clarifying.

  5. If he was offered by UK, he would be a 4-year starter at any school in the MAC.
  6. I would be worried if LBJ was moving the camp to NY
  7. My guess is that he a solid recruiter, and I say that bc OSU has had a "Top 25" recruiting class just about every year for the last 5 years. Now that could have had more to do with Matta and OSU but my guess is he alot more than Akron was hoping for.On a side note, I just saw where Massillon Jackson's Josh Egner just commited to Akron for 2010. 6-7 athletic wing man. He will be fun to watch. Has tremendous upside.
  8. Actually it is the assistant coach that is establishing the close personal relationship not the HC
  9. Zeke isnt going anywhere. He would have to sit out next year at a new school and probably pay his own way as well which is HIGHLY unikely.
  10. I am still trying to figure out if the previous posters talking about joining the Big Ten and Big East are serious?
  11. I guess you are not counting the banner at JAR that says 1998 MAC East Champions
  12. Are you serious? And where did those extra wins get us 2 years ago when we won 26 games??????? That being said, I am pleased with this years schedule. What did Miami get for playing the nation's toughest OOC schedule? All they got was tired before the MAC games started. It got them tired???? Interesting. Did all of those games go in to overtime or something?? What am I missing? No offense to you, but that is lamest thing I have ever heard. It got them tired. These are all 18-23 yr old athletes who are in the best shape of their lives, and all you can say is, it got them tired for conference play. You're gonna need to come up with something better than that. Dont you watch selection sunday for the NCAA tournament? If you really want to be a 2 bid league, you have to have an RPI under 50 (that doesnt even assuure you anything), and SOS is a huge part of that. Unless of course you are thinking about running the table in the MAC. Again, all of that being said, I am pleased with their OOC schedule this year.

  14. So is it possible that Akron could play South Florida in the San Jaun Shootout? That would certainly be interesting being that Dan Hipsher is now at South Florida with Stan Heath.
