  1. Read #9 response from a guy that claims he was thereI agree that I would like to see CJ take more snaps under center. As much as I dislike the 3-3-5, I might start to dislike this "spread" offense more.I sure hope that we don't line up and then look at the sidelines to get the play. Has that EVER given us an advantage? Doesn't seem like it to me.
  2. Works to my advantage, I'll be at the Rubber Bowl. They'll be plenty of Columbus St games on tv the rest of the year I can flip by with my remote.
  3. My hope is the offensive coaching staff has progressed. That is just as important as our QB play.
  4. By my math;Jacquemain has a 77.1 percent chance of starting at WisconsinRodgers has a 21.3 percent chance of starting at WisconsinOther has a 1.6 percent chance of starting at WisconsinThis calculation is for July 18, 2008 only.
  5. Was Cedrick there when the "guys" said that?I'd like to know why Ronnie was not there. Any clue?
  6. If we want to keep it "local" can we use the term "local MAC?" Then I would suggest Kalamazoo's Bell's BreweryI almost missed a Zips basketball game because of Bells. I'll take any of the three below on tap in the new stadium. If you ever go to Western to see a Zips game MAKE SURE you stop at Bell's.
  7. Agreed. In an overall season. But against the Badgers if we can't run and go quick three and outs...good night. Maybe control the clock (although I hate that term) would be a better description.

  9. I don't know and I don't care. These Big Ten games are nothing more than preseason NFL games with little meaning (other than cold hard cash) and a lot of risk to player health.I don't know if you got to watch the last time we played the Badgers, but it was a pretty good game. I have even heard some people say the Zips got cheated out of a winWhile there is risk of getting injured, I think there is the same risk of getting injured in the Can't State game. I think we'll manage. We might even learn something that would help us in our upcoming MAC schedule.I don't think we will have the offense to put up 31, but I don't think our D will give up 48.We need to be able to run the ball to make this game competitive. (I know...duh)
  10. When is the last time we had a significant injury when we played our "pay day" big game?Badgers 08 Schedule
  11. Scheduling became a bit easier within the past year, when the administration gave him $160,000 to buy three guaranteed games, something that a number of MAC teams can't afford.
  12. Here is a quick "how to" for linking web sites for future reference. Good luck.
  13. 10 percent chance of JD leaving for another job at the end of the year.10 percent chance of JD getting fired at the end of the year.80 percent chance he is the coach that opens the new stadium.100 percent chance of somebody starting a thread entitled "Fire JD, JD's Leaving or JD's Future" by the end of this year.
  14. 6-6 He will be in Akron next season. Here is the scenario for a young coach in the MAC. Have a great season and fans talk about you moving on, have a bad season and fans talk about you getting fired.Fans want to win, that is the bottom line. But many times a coach's record during a season is not the ultimate measuring stick. What is the goal of this team? At the end of the year are we any closer to that goal? If we are, it's likely coach stays, if we aren't, can we find somebody that can get us closer to that goal? Here is to hoping the board is full of "JD is moving on to this school and that school" posts at the end of the season.
  15. One of the best away games I have been to as a Zip fanI still have The Sunday Capital from Annapolis with the headline "AKRON SHOCKS NAVY" Mids give up 23-point lead, lose game/ Page C1
  16. Yuengling can not be sold in Ohio. Like anything in life, I would like to have a choice. Give me one of the (Bud, Miller, Coors) and maybe two Great Lakes. I guess you could go Coors Light and Blue Moon, since they come from the same distributor. But give me a variety.
  17. Zeke made the right decision for HIM. There are plenty of ways to get to the mountaintop, just check NBA rosters to see.Playing time in college does not always equal success. If that were the case B Hip would be playing pro ball right now.
  18. USA Today Zips Football PreviewQUOTE TO NOTE: "We plan on playing about 20 people on defense each game and will regularly rotate the skill positions on offense." — J.D. Brookhart.QB is a skill position, I hope we are not debating this come September. "Rodgers, no CJ, no Rodgers, no CJ...."
  19. Ryan Jones reports from SLAM magazine*Among the less famous coaching names in the building—his building, in a sense—is my man Keith Dambrot, the man who coached LeBron during his first two years at St. Vincent-St. Mary HS, and who’s now quietly building a consistent program at the University of Akron. Keith is good people, and he clearly gets a kick out of seeing the college gym he now coaches in covered with logos and banners of that skinny kid he first started coaching in a middle school youth league about 10 years ago.*Ezekial Marshall, 7-0 junior C, McKeesport, PA: A very raw big going who’s supposed to be coming to Akron. When he really learns to play, it should be fun.Kentucky writer braves yesterday's rainstorm to get you these Day 3 notesAlan Stein's Blog
  20. They sell beers at stadiums all across the US. Seems to work. Believe it or not, people can drink beer responsibly.I'm pretty sure the good people that attend Zips games can do the same. I've actually seen it with my own eyes.I bet they even hire police and ushers to make sure fans behave. It's not like Zips fans will act like these animals
  21. More steel going up on the first camera today. Does anybody remember a more rainier June and July (so far)? I wonder if the wet weather has impeded the process? For those of you that still can't view the live link, here are some small shots:
  22. When it comes to logos, it is a simple matter of taste. A designer will present a few ideas to the client, and somebody that knows little about design will usually pick the worst one presented. It's been going on for years, check out the link below:Top ten worst sports logos (according to Joshua Khan)
  23. Furthermore, if this is the result when James plays with other great players perhaps Cleveland general manager Danny Ferry is doing the right thing by surrounding his star with garbage, but that's another column for another day. Now that's funny.Nice find.
  24. Sounds like Zeke is working hard on just that (read through the post)Zeke is also working out with a strength and conditioning coach every day...the Stoudemire Big Man camp is that he came home with some FABULOUS and very VALUABLE information about how to gain weight the healthy wayMore on the camp from MaxPrepsAntonio Williams from ESPN was thereMike Decourcy from the Sporting News
  25. For the first time in my life, I agree with Bluto...I must be wrong
