  1. Can't defense is either really good or they caught JMU on a great night b/c JMU is shooting 32% as a team and Wells is now 0-11 from the field and Humpty 5-16. Flashes up 15+. Game over...
  2. JMU unravelling. Down 8...bad body language. This one is all but over.
  3. Can't up 4 now with 2 free throws and a possession on a bogus "unubstructed path" foul.
  4. JMU started the second half hot off a jumper and a 3 by Hump to open the lead up to 8 points but just minute later Can't State has back to back dunks to get it back down to a 2 point lead by JMU. 39-37. Julius Wells still yet to hit a shot shooting 0-9. Dukes really need him to find his range to win this one.
  5. JMU up 29-26 at half, very very cold shooting. All 3 of JMU's top 3 scorers are having off games with Hump only 2-10, Julius Wells 0-7 and A.J. Davis who is averaging 21 ppg only with 2 points. Shooting 34% as a team. Lucky to have a 3 point lead at this point. Perimeter offense, which the Dukes hang their hat on, must pick up in the second half.
  6. Tied at 20 at the under 4 min timeout. Turnovers a plenty with Can't State having 12 and JMU with 9. Humpty off from outside so far with 4 points on 2-7 shooting. Both teams look out of rhythm and most buckets are garbage points at this point. Scrappy game which i'm gathering is the MO of Can't.
  7. JMU up 16-10 with 10 minutes to go in the first half...
  8. Hump hit his second consecutive game winner with 2.8 seconds to go against Hofstra to give JMU a victory in their first game of CAA play. Hump had 20 points in the victory. The CAA is down from a year ago when they got 3 teams into the tourney and had a final 4 team in VCU. The Dukes still have 1 game to go before they regain the eligibility of arguably their best player in Devon Moore. Rayshaun Goins, the Dukes best post player has been ruled out for the year making this years JMU team a really really guard oriented team. Interesting to see when Devon comes back if Hump stays at the point where he's been a good distributor as well as a scorer or if they split duty of move Hump to the 2. Can't State appears to be beastly this year. I don't think i like an undermanned JMU team to beat them. Especially with the fact that there is basically no homecourt advantage at JMU. I wish i could predict Can't State was going down, but i think they will roll on tuesday night.
  9. had 21 points and 10 assists in a loss tonight to Robert Morris. JMU is without 2 of their starting 5 with no Rayshawn Goins (injury) and Devon Moore (grades). Guess there is a little pass in that "shooting guard in a point guards body". The guy you pass it to has to make the shot to get an assist. JMU is depending on Hump to run its offense and be their primary scorer. Set him free and he will make plays for you. Just doesn't have the help right now due to the previously mentioned reasons. If Akron thinks they are better off without him, thats completely understandable, but it was a terrible match to begin with putting an open court, freelancing player in an offense that simply throws it around the perimeter and waits for someone to jack up a 3.
  10. Hump's average was about 10 ppg before the most recent game in which he was injured early and had to sit the rest of the game going scoreless. Regardless of what the numbers say, Hump has struggled alot still with the loss of his Dad and hasn't fully healed from that ordeal but he's using basketball as a way to free his mind from it and he's really bonded well with his new teammates and likes his new school. I still check up on the Zips from time to time and it sounds like you guys have alot to be excited about in the future. Best of luck.
  11. Humpty made a visit to James Madison this week and was very impressed with the school and the players and coaches. They were missing their 2 best players last year due to injury and have two other key transfers coming in. They are looking like a viable option for Hump.
  12. James Madison is one of many schools with their hat in the ring. there has been no commitment and is no favorite at this point. Humpty is taking his time and making sure he makes the right decision.
  13. I can confirm that he is leaving Akron. Humpty loves the people at Akron and especially his teammates. This is simply about a fresh start for him. I don't think he feels his talents are a good fit with the style the zips play but thise are my words not his. I also think he feels he can best reach his full potential as a player elsewhere. As somebody who has seen every game he has played since the 7th grade he just doesn't look like himself on the court anymore and I believe he wants to find himself again as a player and as a person and with the loss of his father this is a good time for a fresh start.
  14. It was a great gesture to see the whole Zips team at Craigs calling hours tonight in Chillicothe!
  15. please keep Humpty in your prayers, he and his father were very very tight. this is obviously a very tough time for him.
