Impact of UA Sports and Infocision on the City
MaxZIP replied to MDZip's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I can really see the potential for Akron to have a first class game day experience. Tailgating for the first three games was great and the bars were fun before the Can't game. There has also been a noticeable uptrend in the amount of Zips gear being worn on non game days. -
So who's hurt? Rodgers and...?Bain has never played, so he doesn't count. How many WR's are hurt? Zero. How many DL's are hurt? Off the top on my head...zero? If Sewell is hurt...look at his body and tell me he is in bad condition.RB is healthy, with the exception of Allen. And blown ACL's coupled with broken hips will slow you down. This Zips team is as healthy as any team in the nation. There are so many legitimate things to complain about regarding the team...injuries? No way.I guess it is good that the guys staying down after plays are not serious. Scratch that off my list captain"The definite loss of Bowser, Williams and quarterback Matt Rodgers (ACL injury on Oct. 10) means that the Zips now have 13 scholarship players out for the season, most of them through injury."http://www.ohio.com/sports/64836832.htmlAdd in the dings and we are rolling. I guess the coaching staff is quiet aboout them

Torrence and allen looking good. Nice power on the goal line

For the record the "3-3-5 pattycake" only allowed 12 points to be scored on it, despite 5 turnovers and the fact that the team came in averaging 28 points a game. That means that our players are playing at a high level. Imagine if they had a system conducive to consistintly performing against all types of offensive attack.

ZipsRifle,They were in toledo to get ideas for a new range not an arena...http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,564081...test=latestnews
-
Truthfully, I am okay with that. I would rather us build the right arena that benefits the entire community with a wide array of entertainment year round then try to take the pile of poo we have now and trying to make it better. If that means having to wait 5 more years until a new mayor is in town and the economy has improved, then I am all for it. Like with Infocision Stadium, Id rather us do it right the first time than regretting not having done it for the next 40 years.I am ok with that as well. It just seems like the University has more positive momentum that the city at this point and for years to come. If the city had been run like this university there would be an arena already, population would be on the rise, and the overall appeal of the area would have been much improved.

That actually isn't that bad of an idea.
-
I agree 100%. ...and if the City contributes I feel we will have a nicer and bigger arena built faster.A city contribution is years away. Don would be drawn and quartered on his front lawn by laid off city employees if the city financed an arena. It sucks but is probably true.

Yeah a lot of their fans seem to have some sense of entitlement. I can't understand why. They haven't won anything of note, period. And anywhere on either coast people will think they're wearing a green buckeye shirt when they have on any Ohio gear.I have a couple friends from high school that go to OU. Both are die hard OSU fans, and graduated with sub 3.0 GPAs. I can't talk trash to them about Akron-OU match ups because they are indifferent to it. It's all about Ohio State. I guess we aren't alone.I am going to fire our intern from ou when he comes back this summer. He was a little slow anyways.

According to the scouts, "he's a legit 7 feet".And as I recall Gamechanger posting, he's up to about 230?I would need a ladder to get an accurate measurement. He does look pretty solid. Keep up the good work packing on those pounds!

seems to me that a power style teAm could dominate the mac. Enough spread and 3-3-5 pattycake crap

Rodgers injury was the only positive on the game, he was killing us with his stupid play in the first. Fumbling on the goaline, interceptions, just stupid football. After this post .. you ought to take a week off from the Nation. What an embarrassment.Go Zips! How would the club baseball team handle a tough stretch of the season if he were to get injured?

Zeke and the team were hanging out at the football game where they were honored as mac champs. They looked like areal team staying together And enjoying the game. Also zeke is every inch of 6'11"
-
I noticed that the ou fans tailgating next to us left a huge mess in lot 34. No respect. It looked really bad after all of the cars were gone. Even the sizable crowd on opening day didn't leave as large of a mess as some trashY ou fans.

It may be a matter of perception but their seems to be an Extrordinary high number if injuries to this team. Is it bad training or frail players

I think the team looked more enthused and inspired. Costly mistakes killed them but they at least moved the ball and played good d. They were also more supportive of their teammates. One thing that bothered me was the joking around on the sideline in the 4th. They looked to be d linemen and should have been slammed by team leaders for not ha ing their heads inthe game and not appearing to care about winning the damn game

Letter to the new AD (Homecoming Top 5/Bottom 5)
MaxZIP replied to interfx's topic in Akron Zips Football
looks like the Can't game will be the battle for the basement...They can still make a run of it. The d is looking pretty good and the o should be able to move the ball. I still have hope that they can make a respectable showing by coming on strong. -
Great Three Stooges analogy.I hope you feel optimistic about the Zips future. Once the mismanagement is gone, the losing should be gone as well. The talent is there that is being wasted. I just hope Nicely doesn't transfer after the coaching change. He won't transfer with the keys to the team in his hands

If you win it...they will comeI have also been shocked by legnth of the ticket lines. People are Waiting 30 min at all gates to get a ticket. I saw some fans at the end of the long line leave because the had already missed a whole quarter because the one window out of three actually selling tickets instead of being dedicated to will call. They really need to speed up transaction times. I had some people in for the game and they had a negative experienc prior to watching our special teams play. Thee should have a cash only line or something. A general admission ticket lane or two might also speed it up because people take forever to choose a seat though they are mostly the same price and all offer a great view -
69 taps is empty and doesn't have edible food (except $3 steak night). They have a great beer selection but would not recommend it for watching a game. 69 used to he a grea place prior to barley opening and sucking all of the people into it's endless abyss of crappy beer and sloppiness. Bw3 in Akron is the worst bw3 in the area. They have good food and beer specials but not much the way of atmosphere. I worked on Waterloo a few years back when the tap house was a scorchers. Is it the same clientele and food selection?

Tuzze gives us a threat to get positive yards with a hard nosed approach. He seemed to be pretty effective yesterday and was wearing down the d. He doesn't go down easy that is for sure.
-
Rodgers was starting to play better. Doesn't mean he was good. Just a step above absolute crap. Nicely was a pleasant suprise and I look forward to the next 3.5 years with him.
-
I haven't see a good punt in a MAC game yet this year

I too am excited to watch Nicely grow this year. His arm and accuracy are a welcome addition. He can Really fire that pig skin.I too am excited to
