  1. I know the realistic discussion of a potential conference change is entirely dependent on winning some games. That being said, it is fun to speculate what a conference change would mean for a school like Akron. From recruitment of athletes and increasing enrollment numbers through exposure to national TV audiences...a conference move would mean big dollars and an exciting future for the university. Where does the university stand to gain the most from jumping from the MAC ship?1.) Increased enrollment2.) A self-supporting athletic department3.) Upward pressure on academic minimum standards (namely elimination of open enrollment)4.) Overall community interest in the University
  2. Having just graduated in December, the campus is still very familiar. I went to Can't for 2 years and finished at Akron. The major difference between Can't and Akron lies in the feeling of having a campus that is open late with activity persisting well into the night. Akron's campus tends to shutdown around 6 when all of the stores and eateries close. Can't has people up all night with 24 hour activities, stores, and restaurants. Basically the number of people living on campus makes it seem more inviting. That being said I loved Akron’s campus and bar scene. They are very different universities but could learn from each other. Akron needs to keep playing to their strengths of being a modern urban campus with new traditions forged each year.
  3. I get plenty of requests for money. The first request came about 2 monts after graduation.
  4. they had better have Dr. Pepper!
  5. They have to put the windows and facade on prior to putting the stands up. Our concerns are aligned.I know I'll feel far better when the rest of the upper deck on the press tower side starts to go in. I know they say they're on time. But, I don't have a warm and fuzzy seeing that gap and we're three months away from the 1st game and less then three months away from 08/22 the day they're supposed turn a finished stadium less the classrooms on floors 2 through 4 over to UofA.I agree on the glass work. I lived in Chicago for 11 years prior to moving to Georgia. I watched them build 50 story plus buildings in the loop far wider then the Press tower. I saw them install far more glass work in far less time then they been working on the couple of press tower floors. I saw them do four sides of buildings and cover five to ten floors in matter of weeks compared to what it seems like has been months working on three floors of the press tower. I believe they are on-schedule because I don't see a ton of weekend construction activity. It that an accurate gauge? They have been working on the press tower the last couple of Saturdays. That is probably the only segment behind. Also, why did they remove the white wrop from the lower section of the press tower?
  6. It took them quite a while to finish the east upper deck after the structure topped out. Completing the west upper deck might go faster if it the only unfinished segment of the seating area.
  7. They have to put the windows and facade on prior to putting the stands up. Our concerns are aligned.
  8. Why does it seem like they could have installed glass on the entire Sears Tower in the time it has taken to install the Info's glass? Some days it looks like they are working in reverse. I trust in everything they are doing but that segment of construction is worrisome.
  9. Are any other UofA grads interested is discussing what we would like to see happen?
  10. Thank you for the contact info. I will be calling soon.
  11. I am a recent UofA grad interested in becoming involved in alumni activities. Does the alumni association put on any events revolving around football or any other sport?
  12. what side is what? Arent they missing a second level on one of the sides? The other side is general admission
  13. I wonder who will be running the concession stands. Will it be contractors or the University/students? Either way Beer is a necessity!
  14. If he moves on we might get some home and homes with some interesting teams
  15. They should go after some lower ACC teams with only name power left in the tank.
  16. The Browns should play in the BIG 10 next year. They probably wouldn't be allowed in due to attendance estimates
  17. The topic of whether or not Beer would be available at the Info was discussed during the open house on Sunday. Basically it is up in the air right now...does anybody have additional insight or information on this extremely important topic?
