  1. They need to develop the north side of campus to market with some interesting stuff. When is Central Hower going to close for good. Akron was supposed to have closed it only to see it become something else and remain a money pit.
  2. After tailgating, watching our game, and celebrating a victory I may not be in any shape to remember the OSU game.
  3. The buffalo wing festival in buffalo is a great time...just remember to take some baby wipes for cleanup on the way home!
  4. These are all excellent Akro-Centric choices! I know over the years Luigi's has been content with their location and slice (ha ha) of the market, but wouldn't it be SWEET to be able to purchase one of their pies at the INFO?Their stand would be the only one not accepting credit cards. remember to bring enough cash or you will be forced to use their ATM and get smacked with a $4.50 fee. I love that greazy little place!
  5. With blue chips to represent the paint chips all over the stadium
  6. I had not realized I did that, nice catch as to Canada.. the market potential is huge. Southern Ontario is Bills Country and the I-Bowl sold more seats with UB there than they ever have before.I think Buffalo and Syracuse would be a great public/private rivalry. And Buff is further from Syracuse than you are from Pittsburgh so both schools have to compete with Market overlap and recruiting pressures. But I will concede that in 90% of ways its a tossup..Buffalo is about to be the first foreign team in the NFL when they move to Toronto.
  7. Some signature chili or cheese steak
  8. It will be interesting to see how many season tickets are sold by then. Do you guys really think we could sell 25,000 single game tickets for the opening game much less for when the weather turns?
  9. The Motorcity bowl of 2005 sold over 45,000 with akron and memphis 5,000 more than the 2009 international bowl. Neither team is in a BCS conference. But it is impressive in the third year of a bowl in Canada to sell that much.
  10. I remember you talking about tailgating just outside shrank, but just an fyi, they're doing some parking garage project down in that area so that lot has also been turned into the access way to get into the actual shrank garage. I don't know if you're still thinking that lot, but you might want to do some checking around to make sure it's still going to be available etc.Good call, looks Like I'll need to make a scouting run to Akron in August so see what the deal is.I just drove past there. If you were planning on tailgating anywhere near Shrank, it's been turned into a giant construction site. There is plenty of room in that long parking lot behind the chapel that runs parallel to route 8. It is kinda close to the stadium and has potential to be a good time because of the layout. It will also be easy to spot cops and is owned by the University. Plenty of room for chairs, grills, and cornhole. Plus it would not tie up premium parking.
  11. Pretzels suck. More taste and appeal.
  12. A return game would have been nice. Even a 2 for 1 would have been better than pimping our team out like that. don't worry we will lock up Morgan state each year for the next decade to make up for it. We need a BCS team at home each year enough said. Our regional profile will be raised by bringing in big teams. think about when Wisconson came to Can't. People still talk about taht game in a crappy stadium against a crappy team. Indiana and Kentucky are nice but VA Tech and other big name exotic ACC and Big-12 schools are a good change to syracuse.
  13. The ACC and Big-12 are draw games that we can win.
  14. They should offer a zips souvenir cup to all season ticket holders that only cost $1-$2 for each refill. Now that would add some value to being a season ticket holder.
  15. I wonder if there will be many student employment opportunities at the info or if a contractor will run concessions and game day operations. Also, we could use a signature food item for zips football. What would you guys like to see in the concession stands on Sept 12 (not including Beer)?
  16. Cleveland and Cinci are both on the list along with some other high-ranking school's neighborhoods. Looks like our thugs have something to aspire to. It is all about benchmarking on the strongest thugs in the country. Go out there now and put Akron on the top of that list!http://www.walletpop.com/insurance/most-da...s-neighborhoods
  17. They have probably gotten smart and will put it in their pet's name.
  18. Also, a 2747 student differential is not significant. Plus Akron is growing as a research university with plenty of programs. I do believe that Buffalo is a great school and a great MAC Partner. Both Akron and Buffalo will be the strength of this conference in the near future and could provide a spine for any new conference if the MAC goes down. It is nice to have some good organizations to compete with.
  19. Akron:Undergraduates: 21,635 (Fall, 2008, all campuses)Postgraduates: 3,810 (Fall, 2008, all campuses)UB:Undergraduates: 19,022[4]Postgraduates: 9,170You cant ignore post grads which puts UB just south of thirty... But yes you guys are bigger than I thought. Still UB's endowment is 2-3* Akron's and our TV Market is only smaller if you ignore Canada but yes you're a better fit for the BE than I had though, mea culpa..You put a target undegrad number. I stuck with the theme. Not to be too negative but including Canada in your TV viewers is a little questionable. Are there that many Canadian NCAAFB fans out there? Plus how would the BE feel about Buff and Syracuse being togeter? Would that be a rivalry?
  20. Well lets not forget the Big-10 also needs a pickup in a world of 12 team conferences.. As to Akron making it to the Big East? Its not very likely perhaps if you do manage to grow to the mid to high 20K in terms of undergrads (I think now you float around 20). But in terms of Endowment, Size, and number of programs you dont fit in with the BE. I don't think Buffalo is much more likely because while we do fit in as an institution we bump up against the Syracuse market. UB would be a better addition to the Big-10 (new state for them to be in but as close to the rest of the conference as Penn State. Then Again I really think the B-10 would go after Pitt which would open up yet another slot in the BE. If UB2020 goes through (right now the NY senate is in disarray and the other SUNY centers are doing their best impression of a toddler deprived of some toy) UB will be in a Bigger conference in 5-10 years..http://profiles.asee.org/profiles/3935/scr...York+at+BuffaloBuffalo 19,000 undergradshttp://profiles.asee.org/profiles/4135/scr...ersity+of+AkronAkron 21,635 (greater than 19,000) with over 200 under grad programs.Basically, Akron is growing fast and size would not keep us out. We are already larger than a few Big east schools. Academics are on the upswing and we have a much larger TV market. I think you need to look at Akron for where it is going not where it was. We have 200 undergrad majors to Buffalo's 84 and over 100 Grad programs.
  21. Last time I was there it was being sold in a designated area. That what I was told by nephew who takes kids he coaches to games and they attend UofA and Cant games as part of recruiting. But, Big Zip is right Cant does sell it in stadium. But, the policy only changed recently. It changed when I went there in about 2003-2004
  22. Last time I was there it was being sold in a designated area.
  23. I am picking tomorrow with the other faculty/staff people. Will I be able to get 4 seats together in 108 or similar area?
  24. Ouch. This conference is watered-down we should switch!
  25. I had to look this up, so I thought I'd share.FBS Stadium listhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_...otball_stadiums
