  1. I'd call it a tossup: p://thepowerrank.com/predictions/ 45. James Madison at Akron. (0.33) James Madison (129) will beat Akron (165) by 2.3 on the road. Akron has a 45% chance of beating James Madison. Looks like a computer ranking... so after a week... can't be too accurate. But the "Z" factor is that this is football... not basketball or soccer. 2010 wasn't that long ago... Gardner-Webb 38, Akron 37, OT on the way to an 0-11 season. Hope you guys are right about a blow-out... and I agree that if it is a blow-out... Zips win... but... I don't have much hope of winning this game if it's close. This signature is for SOCCER...
  2. Caldwell is up... barely... 23.6% to 23.3%... But UCLA is down 5-2 to San diego... might help Scott's cause... http://www.uclabruins.com/gametracker/laun...artschool=& LOOKS LIKE THE FINAL NOW... so maybe UCLA will loose interest in soccer some...
  3. UNC in PKs against UMBC: http://www.goheels.com/mediaPortal/player....;DB_OEM_ID=3350
  4. Tied at 22.3%... this is going to take some effort... UCLA is a big school.
  5. The ACC will have a lot more impact than the Big East !!! Big East: All of the Big East teams but one... will loose this week... in the Big East Tournament. Georgetown plays Marquette and Notre Dame plays UConn. Two of these teams will not get any more RPI points... and two may pass Akron for a Friday win... and one will get more points than Akron in the Sunday win. The worst case scenario is that Notre Dame does not win... and another Big East team passes Akron... and ND stays ahead of Akron in the RPI. ACC The bad news is that the ACC is just starting... with first round games TOPNIGHT (more chances to gain RPI points) !!! Here's the bracket: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/acc/sp...msocbracket.pdf So... one team will have 3 more wins against quality opponents... and one will have 2 wins... and 2 will have 1 more win. Not Good. IF Maryland and North Carolina play for the Championship... the best two teams... they could both pass Akron in the RPI with at least 2 quality wins (2 and 3). Since we can't see the RPI points... we may also have to worry about the winner of the Wake forest and Virginia game winning the tournament... even though they are down the RPI scale a bit. But... that would also likely allow only 2 teams to pass Akron. PAC-12 Probably... we only need to worry that UCLA passes Akron. Big Ten(12) Here’s a link to the Big Ten tournament... the bracket link is here: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/big10/...gtenbracket.pdf Same scenario with the Big Ten as the ACC... winner could have 3 more wins... but Indiana is the highest ranked team and they are not likely to pass Akron with an MSU win and 2 more quality opponents (Penn State and Northwestern?). So… WORST CASE SCEANRIO for the NCAA Tournament for Akron: 2 ACC teams and 2 Big East teams pass Akron… and UCLA gets ahead on a PAC 12 win… putting Akron 6th BEST CASE SCEANRIO: Upsets in the ACC, Big East and PAC12 and Akron finishes #1 Most Likely Scenarios: 1 ACC Team and 1 Big East Team and UCLA finish ahead of Akron… and Akron finishes 4th OR 2 ACC Teams and 1 Big East Team finish ahead of Akron… and Akron finishes 4th OR 3 ACC and Big East teams… and UCLA finish ahead of Akron… putting us at 5th. I think that we'll finish 4th... based on a couple of upsets.
  6. Entertaining Vid from PSU Coach: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-soccer.../101012aab.html
  7. More disturbing... Where's the offense? But I am confident that it's coming.
  8. So... not a Zips Ladies soccer follower... for sure... but I have a question for someone who is... Croft is listed as: "Interim Head Coach: Vernon Croft (first season)" Does that mean that we will soon promote the Demigod Keri Sarver to coach soon? Has anyone ever looked at her history... All-Time Maryland... All ACC... NSCAA Awards and accreditations... etc?
  9. In soccer... and some other sports... the real meaning of the CLASS award is somewhat lost... I think. I SUSPECT... that it was spec'ed out for football-like programs... where a Senior might turn down Pro contracts to stick around for her/his Senior year... knowing that a pro contract will come after graduation. In most other (or some?) college sports... if a player is offered a Pro Contract... they bolt. Soccer works a little different. We All know how the Generation Adidas contracts work... and it's more of a collective offer that involves coaches and players and MLS and USSoccer. Every once in a while... a player sticks around for a Senior year in soccer... and we hear about it.. but I can't remember it happening in Akron. SO... I think that maybe some of the CLASS Award guidelines are RELAXED a bit for soccer... and VOTING has a larger impact. Let's remember that in a few months... !!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Adidas
  10. This is the LEAST Poll-Like of any of the Polls. The idea here is to keep a running tab on guesses for the NCAA Bracket... so you get a mish-mash of soccer powers and weaker league favorites. Probably you kow that... but not everyone does.
  11. Anyone else have an opinion on which Akron SENIOR should get a nomination for the Lowes SENIOR CLASS AWARD for 2012? Ampai won it in 2010. http://www.seniorclassaward.com/ What about the Ladies Soccer Team ?
  12. Lowe's Senior Class Award... Who should get a nomination? Chad Barson - Scott Caldwell - David Meves - Thomas Schmitt ??? Tough call... but I vote for Barson
