  1. I keep forgetting that Navy has won a title.
  2. Certain players in Zips MSOC history are the gold standard at their position by which all who follow are judged. There have been many excellent central defenders in Zips lore, All Americans and NCAA Champions; a few became professional players. None have been as good as Simon Spelling. If you do not understand how dominant he was in the early eighties, you really need to ask some old timers. Remember that Simon was Steve Parker's assistant coach for several excellent squads in the mid to late eighties as well (1986 runner-up). His career coaching at Medina speaks for itself. See above. ZipsNation salutes you, Simon Spelling! We do not forget.
  3. Guess I am rooting for Washington since they have never won it. In fact, Huskies have never before advanced to College Cup. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Men's_Soccer_Tournament https://gohuskies.com/sports/mens-soccer
  4. Kentucky is one of a handful of teams with an excellent chance to take the cup. That are all that. But first things first. Fans should not look past Santa Clara. If coaches and players look past any opponent, especially in a single elimination tournament, well then, those fools deserve what they get.
  5. Undefeated aspect should have gained them #8. Not formulaic, I realize.
  6. I wish it were a 64 team tournament. The first round bye is a HUGE advantage that cannot be overstated. I would even advocate cutting it back to a 32 team field, just to get rid of the 16 first round byes. The first round bye with opponent having only three days to travel is plain ridiculous.
  7. St. Louis got a bit of a raw deal. Billikens deserved a #8 seed. Difference between #10 and #8 is significant.
  8. How many times has MAC put in 3 teams? Never before have 4 teams gone. We may NEVER again see 5 MAC teams in The Tournament.
  9. This settles it (again) regarding the importance of RPI, to nearly the complete exclusion of any other factors.
  10. Not at all. That is the supposed “whew” emoji.
  11. Sandon Mibut is decidedly not an Akron guy. Perhaps he once lived in Ohio; I do no know. He is most definitely a University of Virginia guy, though he makes an effort toward remaining objective.
  12. Today, Sandon Mibut said simply and unequivocally “Akron gets in.”
  13. Was it not a smaller turnaround time? As my feeble mind recalls, Georgia State played at Bowling Green on Thursday and then beat us on Saturday. Correct?
  14. Out of Likes. No Akron players should ever be yelling such things, win or lose. That's MY job! Zips players should compete, but with dignity and respect. And yeah, Falcons are laughing last on that account. Remember the days when we hated that the MAC Tournament, because it would hurt our RPI?
  15. I bought a nice A-Roo flag to fly from my front porch. I think the year was 2003, but not sure. Every year, the flag goes up once I attend a Zips practice, which usually occurs in July. The flag comes down the day the Zips are eliminated. This flag has never been put away this early in the year. Never. Never. Hell, High School Soccer is still playing. This is beyond unacceptable. Should I really hold out hope for an NCAA at-large bid? Seriously? Three years outside of the NCAA post season means the mystique is gone. Dead. It is part of the past. I will not tolerate anyone talking about the Akron Way, or We Are Akron, or any of that pitiful shite. DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!!!!!!!! Soccer Kings? My Hairy Ass! Jared, Ger, and Mikey, et al had better ask some really hard questions of themselves and of each other. Are you guys still up to the challenge?!? We can no longer say that we need to do the things we have always done, but just do them better. NO! Root Cause Corrective Action DEMANDS that new action be taken. We need a paradigm shift. What are the new ideas? What will you do differently? Not better, differently!
  16. “Do Or Die!” This is a hyperbolic and overused, even tired, saying . Cliche. But should Zips find a way to lose this match, much of what Akron Zips MSOC is and has been will be no more. It is time to play with Passion, with Purpose, and with Pride. Z
  17. The survival of Zips MSOC is not in doubt. Not with this new AD administration. But MAC MSOC, certainly as we know it, is very much in danger. It helps that the four full time MAC members are COLLECTIVELY enjoying their best season ever. MAC MSOC will likely survive, just not in it’s current form.
  18. https://www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/sun-belt-confirms-mens-soccer-being-reinstated/article_e08dea8c-b0bd-51cd-9810-0a1365bdc1e5.html#utm_campaign=blox&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social Read!!!!!
  19. The MAC Tournament has been held at the conclusion of regular season every year since 1994, excepting 2020 season (actually played spring 2021). Akron Zips have never missed going to the MAC Tournament.
  20. HUMONGOUS MAC Title Implications! Winner will likely host the tournament.
  21. Zips give Vikings a right proper beat down!
