Well said JP. I have always thought the same thing myself. I would much rather play and start for 3 -4 years than ride the bench and play one season. Hopefully JD and staff and get some of those kids to see this and have them wear blue and gold instead of scarlet and gray.

There is no way you can compare Frye and Zwick. Charlie is a three year college starter rated near the top of the list for QB's in the nation. Justin is a redshirt soph. looking to crack the starting lineup for the first time. So please don't hate on Zwick. Yes you may have your pesonal thoughts about him but at least let him play in a game to prove himself. The only reason the Beacon will be all over Zwick is cause of the color of his uniform. The ABJ will always have some problem with the University of Akron and never give them the proper coverage they need. And please don't blame the SID for this. There is nothing anyone can do at the universiy to change the way the ABJ feels about them. So either get used to seeing OSU all over the beacon in the next coming season or just don't read the ABJ.

One thing I will never understand!!!!! Every other school that has started spring ball has a current roster and depth chart out on there offical website except one..........Akron. I know that are very busy will all of the other sports going on right now but come on. Give us diehard fans something to read about until April 16 when we can watch them play on campus...... I will never understand why these things are never out on time. Oh well maybe it will be out today.

I think the Zips biggest addition to the 2004 class was not even on the list. JD Brookhart and staff. They are going ot make the biggest difference this year!!!!!

If you win people will come. There are alot of closet Zips fans who will show up for games when the Zips start winning.

Nice Read Z-P. Just like ZipDude I love you too Here is my take on Coach B: Wow!!!! This guy is a breath of fresh air. I love the attitude. HE come across as a very strong man that knows how to run a program. And every one knows he is in charge a very strong leader. He is the type of coach I have been waiting for in Akron. The tpye of caoc hthat the players wil run thru a brick for. I love it that players have come up to him and said this is the toughest work out schedule they have ever had. Championships are won in the offseason and this year the Zips are taking this statement to heart. I also like to hear that the best 22 players will be on the field. Right now I am more pumped for spring ball then I have ever been. To hear him say the defense is going to be flying to the ball and trying to confuse the offense get me more excited than the butt shots on the Soprano's!!!! Finally a defense that will take control of the game instead of wating to see what the offense does. I think being in the Steel city has rubbed off on coach B. I say look out MAC the Zips mean business this year.

I believe he was first team all state. I did some looking around and I saw where somebody thinks he is headed to YSU but that is not offical. ZipDude, He was a true frosh last year so if he transfers to I-A he sits one year and has three left. Sorry I made it soud like he was a rs-fresh last year. From what I hear he was going to be fighting for a spot this year.

I have talk to Billy grandpa at a scrimmage. He is a very nice and funny man. I wihs Billy the best of luck he seems like a good kid from a good family. Now I have nothing aganist Swiger so may the best kicker win.

I just read Zach Slates, a 6-2 305 OL FR-RS, has left the Pitt football program. Does anybody know if he will coming to Akron. If he did he would have 3 years with the Zips. He is also a local kid from Perry in Massillon.

Hey Capn' There is an article on jjhuddle.com that talks to T Sutton. He sayd the Zips have offered him a full ride. I guess all they can do now is keep in touch and hope he wants to play at home. Hunter had 42 catches for 823 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Byrnes offensive lineman Trey Bailey (6-3, 270) is projected to be a center in college by his coach Bobby Bentley. “He’s a good pass blocker with good feet, long arms and good hips,” Bentley said. USC, Clemson, Duke and Akron are showing early interest.
