This is a HUGE pick up for the Zips. Everything I have read says this kid is a diamond in the rough and could be a real star. He is quoted as saying that a chance at early playing time was a reason he choose Akron. Now my question is does one of the other frosh RB's change positions?????. I believe the Zips now have 5 new RB's coming in this year.

Dennis Kennedy is a 5-11 190 RB from Flordia with 4.4 speed. He sigined with OSU this year but thee was some paper work problems and now he is going to be a Zip. The link below is the whole story. CLick the Link

I also found this to be very funny. He also mentions Zach Williams as a DL the coaches are expecting alot from. Taking nothing away from Zach but he is a walk on and has seen very limited playing time in the past. Also no mention of Donte Cloud at LB. I have read several site taht mention him as the best of the Class of 2004. But hey does make an effort to inform people about the MAC.

I think they were a grades issue. I thought a fellow slug said thye had herad that back in Apr. I bet that the JCUO runingback got one of the open scholarships.

He is on there Capn'. I put him at DT in the 4 - 3 and at DE in the 3 - 4. I would bet he is not 275 maybe more like 260 265. The same for Radich.

Yes this is a quote of one fan. But take a poll of 1000 fans and I bet 900 say the same thing. The Zips have done all the right things to make a better image of themselves. Now all they need to do is go out and earn some respect by kicking some ass on the football field.

Just an FYI the 2004 roster is now post on gozips.com. There are a couple names missing that where on the spring roster. One name missing is Mike Berry. He was a backup DE in spring ball. Anybody have a clue where he might be????? I hope he didn't transfer to Ashland!!!!!!

What the hell's wrong with signing six kids from one school. Glenville is a football and track player factory. Puls it is a local school that could help attendence. Can't does this with schools 8 hours away. I think you need to start a eaglesnation.org and start pimping Ashland University!!!!!

With summer camp being a month away, I was just wondering if all the incoming freshman made grades. I know in recent years past there was always 2 or 3 players who signed letters of intent in FEB and were never heard from again. . So if anybody know please let us know. I wonder how many of the freshman going to Ashland made grades........

There is supposed to be alot of kids with big time talent in PA this year. Hopefully JD and staff can make Akron a lot of kids first choice. But I agree Capn' Mr. Sutton would be a huge pick up. From what I read online OSU as of right now is not going to offer him a scholarship.

I am going to say C but with an explaination....... These kids from Butchel have seen other griffins goto Pitt over the years. I am sure they have heard good stories and Pitt has some top notch facilities thanks to the Steelers. Now the Zips are getting the facilities and their new headcoach has a good realtionship with the Butchel coach. But one thing is missing. Pitt has won more games and went to more bowl games than Akron the last few years. So to a Butchel kid it is a no brainer. Now it is still June. If the Zips have a huge year make a bowl game and Pitt has an off year, which I see is coming, maybe come Feb, these kids change there mind. Only time will tell but don't expect local kids to start making early commits to the Zips until the win starts to happen.

This is part of an artcle on bucknuts.com. The way I read it the Zips will be on ESPN two times next season!!!!! The Sept. 4 season opener with Cincinnati will begin at noon and will be televised by ESPN-Plus Regional Television. A Cincinnati newspaper had previously reported that game would be shown on ESPN. Instead, ESPN will show Akron at Penn State at noon that day. The UC-OSU game will likely only be shown on ESPN-Plus outlets in and around Ohio, but would also be available via the ESPN Game Plan package.

I have heard rumors that a spot for the new on campus stadium is where the old McDonalds is now. Does this mean there is a new stadium coming!!!!!

What freshman do think has the ability to make the most impact next year??? I say Donte Cloud will be the top Frosh. He has the chance to come in and be on the first defense come the Penn State game. I have read alot about him and he seems to be a great player. Some even say a steal for the Zips. He will be the one of the faster palyers on the Zips D next year.

I would agree Capn' about hitting PA hard. Most of the players I have seen having Akron as a school listed is from PA. A few from Ohio and I saw one offer to a QB from Georgia. I forget his name right now but he is a 6 - 3 200+ lefty,who is ranked pretty high in the state of Georgia. A great season this year should help make next years class the best in the MAC.

I am just try to stir things up over here!!!!! The wait between spring ball and summer camp is tooooo long. Just trying to pass the time.
