I think Terry Bowden found Rob Ianello's playbook in his pants.

+1. Great game, great effort, great improvement and IT WAS ENTERTAINING.
-
The announcers just said " I can't tell you how impressed I am with this Akron defense, they keep making big play after big play". Who would have thought we would have heard those words?
-
Going for it and getting it. I love it, too!
-
Ha! I smell post-post editing. :-)

I'm just so happy that I feel empowered to give smack to complete strangers! Cracked me up, too.

And they can get a college education and learn how to spell BELIEVE correctly. (I say this with love-- right now I would so happey if we culd just whin this won.)

ESPN calling this a "stunner".

Once again, edge of my chair football without the cringing. I do believe! BTW, we are having a virtual ESPN3 watch party with fans in Indiana, Nevada and here with me in California all commenting on FB and smartphones. Need to get my butt to Ohio this year and actually make my first in person Zip game!!

I agree. The loss seemed more due to isolated screwups than a systemic failure. I thought QB Wiliiams was pretty good. One interception? Couldn't believe there wasn't a penalty untill the second half. We used to get a flag walking on the field (with too many players) Hakeem?#10 looks like he's got some game. LT and Suel were solid. Felt bad for Sconiers--he's better than his play today And we did things on defense that we never saw in the last two years. The screwups were discouraging, but they looked like a team in a way we haven't seen before--at least for us newcomers. The only good thing I have to say about iCoach is that the players learned to play through adversity so let's hope find the many positives in this game and elimate the unneccesary self-destruction

Who should the next coach have on their staff?
pattydark replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I heard that, too. He earned a lot of loyalty in very difficult circumstances. I will be sorry to see him go. -
Oy. This does not add to the discussion, nor is it much of a "hiroad". This looks more like a disguised anti-Winters post, than a plea for open minds.
-
Personally, I would be more than happy to change the offical spelling of the word than to change one thing about this posting. Many thanks to the ZNo members who appear to be the only people connected to this program that know how to achieve a goal.

"the Broncos have not punted in the game."
-
So now 44 is the entire offense? That is what coach has been trying for all year. Coach wants him to get his 1k yards in the most humiliating game in anyone's memory.
-
And another. Get him out of there. Christ.
-
Then it's a lock!!
-
Because Coach cannot admit a mistake. Moore as QB. 44 up the middle. Ho freaking hum.
-
Best case scenario for fans of the program. Thank you for proper perspective. I'm posting as a desperate cry for help. I think I'm losing my mind! Concluding my second season as a Zip fan. Could not have made it without this board. The biggest triumph of the season has been the member's push for *newcoach*. Remind me never to piss you guys off. And, I too, am hoping for a win. The pressure is off the team--who knows? (I see that my capacity to hope has not been completely crushed).

As usual, ITZ is totally on the money in content and tone. Tone matters. Factual criticism is necessary and unobjectionable; when we get too personal (of which I have been guilty, especially as it relates to the play book in the pants) it diminishes the message. This was perfect.

Ban on talking football for the rest of the year?
pattydark replied to MDZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I am a newcomer. I didn't expect a winning season (I watched or listened to most of the games last year) but I did not expect the absence of hope. Watching this team is an exercise in a failure of logic. The team HAS gotten better but with exactly nothing to show for it. If it is this discouraging to me, it must be devasting to those young athletes. -
GOOD GRIEF. Snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
pattydark replied to akronzips71's topic in Akron Zips Football
I disagree, in part. In my opinion Sconiers and Suel are consistent--execute when they have the chance and have the potential to bust out. Sconiers and Suel both perform well under pressure. Suel had almost more receptions today than #3Price has had the entire season (and Suel only played slightly more than @ half the game). I continue to be baffled at the showcasing and reliance on #3 when he consistently cannot perform. Suel tore it up in the fourth quarter when they finally turned him loose. He made two of their three touchdowns (his diving TD into the endzone was a thing of beauty and talent); Sconiers numbers speak for themselves. I blame the coaches for starting #3 over MS15 and continuing to go to him for the big plays when he clearly can't execute (remember last week he was open in the end zone and the ball hit him at the numbers and he couldn't hold on). It not only hurts us now--it has got to be destroying his confidence. I would imagine that his teammates are not happy either. I don't mean to single out this kid, I blame the coaches for ignoring the numbers and the talent before their eyes. The WRs have the potential to be the electrifying force on this team--but they have to use the ones that can execute. I understand not starting MS15 last week--he was coming off an injury and fair is fair. But even playing half a game he had 6 receptions and a TD--SO THEY DON'T START HIM TODAY. ARRRGH. Chisolm can't do it by himself. They've got talent in their WRs they just need to identify it and use it properly. And, somewhat off-topic. I admire Moore's guts. Man, he can take a hit and just keeps on ticking. -
I used the exact same language about Price last week (bounced off his numbers in the endzone) So here it is Saturday and they are starting Price and not Suel. Suel has better stats and played three less games. I do not understand.

I believe Brian Wagner is our best player. WAY better than Suel or Chisholm. And Brookhart recruited him. Mr. Suel shows signs but 3 games and 8 receptions are not enough to declare him one of the top two players on the team. Same goes for Chisolm though averaging 95 yards/game through 6 is pretty impressive. Wagner is by far our best player. Just watching Suel on the field and ignoring the numbers (which don't look great), I'll still say he is one of the top guys on offense. I hope he gets back in there against Ohio. He makes LR8 better. IMO, Wags has a consistent body of work to prove he should be the "face of the zips" marketing focus. Frisman Jackson recruited Suel. Flew out to California to meet him. I was there.

I thought it was just my laptop... that does suck. Run another window with AM 1350 and get normal audio
