Just so you know we were at the last game and was overjoyed when you the fans cheered when Chauncey came in the game. It really felt great that he is loved by so many. It meant a lot to us and it really meant a lot to Chauncey. Thanks fans for supporting him in such tough times... -
Chauncey Was Out - Now Back, and Kicking @ss

Chauncey hurt his knee initially 3 or 4 days before the season started. Not realizing how serious it was until right before conference play, where he had to face surgery. Last year he played in the shadows of Q which disallowed AKron fans to see his all out abilities. Having a knee injury with this being his last year Chauncey is pushing himself when he should rest and come back when he's 100%. However this is an exciting year with all the records being broken etc. he wants to be a part of it. I'm not sure if Akron will ever see Chauncey play at his fullest for he is amazing to watch. The best I can say is right now he did lose strength around the injured area but is now getting it back but some swelling is still there. Another good thing is he was able to dunk last week putting the ball between the legs (so his bounce is coming back). I say if he is not at 100% he is very close and fans realize working out the stiffness coming off the bench takes a while to loosen up especially coming in so late in the game. The good thing is the teams has his back winning 17 in a row which takes the pressure off... -
You are right Dave...As much as Chauncey wants to play the medical staff has the final say. Coach won't play him at this point unless he is needed. This has been really hard for Chauncey since this is his final college year.

This topic was about being mindful of player insults coming from fans and not what player is better than the other. No disrespect to Zeke or Tree, but Chauncey plays in nobody's shadow...Chauncey, Zeke, and Tree have different roles as well as play different positions with different skill sets. The team concept; there are 15 guys and each are equally important IMO. Chauncey gave up coming to Akron a team he captained as a Sophomore where he demonstrated he has the ability to take over games. But, out of respect he understands he transferred into Zeke's team and he honors that with hopes of making it to the NCAA tourney... Chauncey has been to a final conference game twice with two different teams. He want for the first time to play in the post season and WIN some games. This is his last ride as a college player, right now he doesn't care who is better or worst, he just want to WIN and he will do whatever he has to in assisting that effort. Everything else takes care of itself.

Thank you...

No apologies needed...No offense was taking.

Assuming that I didn't...it was brought to their attention. This is no big deal for me or Chauncey!!!
-
Thanks very much...So if you transfer where is the fairness or does that take away the fact...I just mentioned it as in he just plays and not just for recognition of accomplishments.

Thanks Game Changer for this post addressing these kind of comments. I've had to read posts slamming Chauncey for not playing well as expected in the past couple of weeks. It's not easy to hear the fans who suppose to love the player throw out insults about him without understanding or compassion of his personal struggles. But when the play is exceptional you very rarely hear them give any credit where credit is due. Chauncey hurt his knee two or three weeks prior to the season started and wanted to avoid surgery because he didn't want to let the team down along with jeopardizing other future personal and professional goals. He fought hard to get back in the last couple of weeks to get back, almost two or three weeks earlier than expected. That kind of applause for that kind of dedication and determination actually go unnoticed. Another point I would like to make is Chauncey also scored his 1000 plus college career points and no one pointed that out nor any school recognition. Unfortunately its almost the same fans who post the negative comments like they live for the negative. I do understand their love and compassion for the team and is passionate of their team's success. But while the player is in the valley it doesn't help to hear all the negative stuff..Good for you standing up for your kid and having total belief in him even doing the lows.

Rest assured Chauncey is a tough guy and had the surgery already last week and came through with flying colors. Great surgeon and trainers and coaching staff expect nothing but the best for him and his family ask for your prayers that he will be elevated and strengthen to be better focused mind body and spirit wise. He has been playing hurt for a while but finally he realized he needed surgery and all parties involved were in agreement this was needed for a better Chauncey and team. The blessing was that he didn't give further damage as it would have taking longer to heal. So lets see if the best is yet to come...Go Zips -
Why single out one player in particular? None are to be compared to each other when its a team sport. KD calls the offensive sets an is orchestrated who will take the shot. It just depends on who's number is called...

I beg to differ...I think all of the above mentioned could also start at any D! team as well...They all have proven it...Its about speed in D!. Also you can add NH and PF to the list...

Congrats Game Changer 44...you must be very proud!!! -
I believe this was a planned KD maneuver to bring a spark off the bench I believe...Similar to Diggs I guest..How Chauncey feels about this I guest time will tell.

What do you want from me? Chauncey didn't look good today and probably played the the worst game I've ever seen. Two very bad plays down the stretch and probably cost UA the game. Funny thing no one will remember the big plays down the stretch before overtime or the first 4 minutes of OT or his knee injury affecting his shot for the last 30 days Nor will anyone remember that Tree and Nick didn't play, Zeke fouled out or Alex big missed layup down the stretch. So for the rest of UA's history and Chauncey's life will forever be remembered of these two major turnovers made to lose this game. Nor will you be around when he call crying frantically wishing that he could just get away. While consoling I have to tell him to endure and press forward remembering this is a long season. Chauncey plays to win and I know he is beating himself up inside and know that people like you hate him and me for being his biggest fan. I really feel for him...You feel better now? I have to love him through this while you add insult to injury...KD coached one of the best games in history and I take total blame for Chauncey being born and have to encounter days like this. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
