  1. This is the only picture I can find right now. This is from the ad for the replica they had for sale (Link). I've seen the real ones and the face looks like this, but I never got to see the sides of the ones the team got.
  2. Will the freshmen be able to play in the game against Malone without burning their redshirt since it is an exhibition?
  3. I saw on Facebook that Zeke posted a post-game interview, but I'm on my phone so I can't post the link. I'll try and post it when I get home tonight unless someone else wants to grab it and put it here. I think Momma Zeke put some highlights on there as well.
  4. Rereading what I said now I realize that I wasn't clear in what I meant. I didn't mean to say it would take several years of mediocrity to get back to where we want to be. I was trying to say that just because they aren't playing the way we are used to at this very moment, I still believe that we will still feel great about our soccer program after this year, and several years down the road. Overall, I just mean don't rush to judgement on Embick! I have full confidence in this team, and I truly believe we will make the tourney and have the talent to make a good run at the whole enchilada. People naturally fear change, and it's easy to point the finger at an in-house hiring when the team isn't pummeling teams like the Porter teams of old, but I think that it is just a feeling out process and the team will figure things out as the season goes on. And I can't wait to be there when they do figure it out.
  5. Let's not forget that when Porter took over in 2006 we didn't even make the NCAA Tournament. I realize that he didn't have a team of his recruits yet and he brought a different philosophy to the table, but we were still coming off of an NCAA Quarterfinals appearance in 2005. I think it is far too early to say Embick should have his resume ready. We aren't even halfway through his first season. It's not uncommon to have some growing pains when a coach leaves and another comes in, even if they have similar overall philosophies. The players need to adjust to a new personality leading them and the coaches need to adjust to a new combination of players. We've all been spoiled the last several years, and I think we'll still consider ourselves spoiled several years from now. Also, replacing leaders like Caldwell/Barson/Meves, a game controller like Trapp, and a game changer like Yedlin is very difficult to do in 8 regular season games.
  6. If I remember correctly the record for attendance is just under 6,000. It was against Ohio State, but it was 2011 and we were coming off of a National Championship, ranked 4th in the country, and often scoring goals in bunches. So there were more variables there than it just being a weekday against OSU. I still wish there would've been more people there, though.
  7. Diego has started off hot this year. 3 goals and an assist through 2 games, one of which was a 4-0 win over our old friend Gif and VCU. Link I wonder what made him leave after one spring.
  8. Not sure if this has been mentioned somewhere, but Omari Morris has transferred to Wright State. Link
  9. Does anyone have any info on Keisuke Ohata? According to twitter he's rooming with Louis Cross. I see online that he played for AFC Cleveland this summer. Also, there's this video: Ohata College Soccer Recruiting Video' If this has already been covered here I apologize, but I searched and couldn't find anything.
  10. Additionally, a couple former Zips made the list: Martin Ontiveros - #42 (Now at Furman) Akeil Barrett - #85 (Now at Tulsa)
  11. I think Kincade is from Blackhawk HS. Namath went to Beaver Falls High. Either way, I hope he is half (or even a quarter) as good.
  12. So I was in DC last weekend with a couple other UA friends for the Timbers/DC United match (plenty of Akron there). While we were walking by the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, all three of us in Akron gear, a guy came up to us (a college-aged kid, probably about 6'9" wearing basketball warm-ups and a pistons hat, so he I'm assuming he either plays somewhere or is just a basketball fan) and asked us "Hey do you guys think Zeke Marshall will get drafted??" We all immediately said we sure hoped so. He then said something like "that dude's a beast. I hear he's been working hard. I hope to see him get picked." Pretty cool that a random guy in DC not only knew about Zeke and Akron, but was interested in his draft stock. Just thought I'd pass that story along. I really wish I would have asked where the guy was from, and if he played anywhere. Oh well.
  13. I'm not sure how much attention Paul puts towards the spring schedule with Track and Field still going on. He does the SID duties for them and they were in action this past weekend.
  14. This is from the regulations, found here: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament...rkey2013_ee.pdf "TECHNICAL RULES FOR THE FINAL COMPETITION 2. In addition to the above provision, each Participating Member Association shall ensure that all players of its representative team were born on or after 1 January 1993." Looks like he's good to go.
