What does Penn State call it?
-
Do they call is Skull session? This is what I'm trying to find out.If it's a generic term, we can use it.If it's just an OSU term, I say call it something else. That's what I'm getting at.ThanksPenn State does a similar ritual in the Bryce Jordan Center before games and I'm sure many others do it so it's no like OSU is the ONLY school who does it. -
Is skull session a term associated with OSU?If it is, we'll have to come up with something else.I went to the one before the Zips/OSU game in '01, and would love to see something like that in the JAR once the stadium is on campus.Opens up an opportunity to start new traditions of our own.I agree with those wishing to see a return to the high-stepping swing style.I, however, DO like the white pants. I think they're sharp!Know what I dislike? The "Eat 'em up, eat 'em up, go Zips, go!" chant. I find it to be awfully hokey and I don't ever hear anyone actually join in on the chant. Could we possibly drop it?How does this sound for a halftime show: popular movie theme songs? Star Wars. Superman. Raiders of the Lost Ark. I know I'd be rocked! Also, once we build our new stadium and have skull-sessions in the JAR (though we should call 'em something else right?) I think the movie theme songs would be a cool theme. If you've been to a skull session at OSU, you'll see that they only do the fight song maybe twice. The rest of the time is filled up with songs most people don't know. Movie themes, however, would be cool and fun! -
Doing so would make Channel 19 bump their 5 and 6 p.m newscasts in addition to Katie baby at 6:30.They're not going to give up that ad revenue for a Miami game.Best to look on the Web, but I'm sure you'd have to buy a package at cbs.com or something like that. It's not going to be for free.I don't believe it is going to be televised in the Akron/Cleveland area. -
vvvveeeerrrryyyy interesting.thanks for the info!

What is your goal? These efforts are the only chance we have to influence change. -
Let coach D handle from here on out.I have confidence he's stirring it up with the decision makers. We citizen journalists have done all we can without coming off as whining..in my opinion."WHAT DOES IT ACCOMPLISH?" I am sure it cannot be proven but some of our emails to various media etc has gotten national exposure. It is what is needed to get this ugly thing to change and change in this case will be very good. Should we all get over 911 too?? I think not-we need to keep this ball rollin! Just my humble opinion. -
+1Lets hope that Miami fares well vs. Oregon. None of this mess is their fault and most Redhawk fans are in our corner over the NIT fiasco. A good showing by the 'Hawks would give the MAC a desperately needed shot in the arm. I'll be pulling hard for Charlie's boys. -
Thank you, yes, please, lets move on!How about "Let's get over it and focus on next year"? -
How about skull sessions in the JAR before the game..ala Ohio State in St. John arena?
-
Yes...I think our uniforms are boring.Let's pick a great design and stay with it for all eternity...tradition!Get rid of the white pants!!!!!! They're attractive on exactly----no one!!!!! -
Too cold to tailgate?Surely you jest!(and I'll stop calling you Shirley)the 11-23 game will probably be too cold for the tailgate action -
How do you sync the audio and video between the two computers?I watched a lot of the away games on the visitor's Web site. Some are really good, like Northern Illinois, and any of the Horizon League games are also well done in a conference-wide package.Duquesne was also good.Sometimes the video feed also has audio commentary, one time it was there but so faint as to be useless. I have also run two computers, one for audio and one for video. But again, if they can't clean up this act that we pay for, it proves just how bush league (sorry George) they really are. Big time schools make sure their alums can participate, and trust me, not all Penn State Alums live with a quick drive of State College. -
Browns are already making changes for us.

I think we're good enough to come up with our own traditions. No need to recycle others.I'm ready to see "Script Zips" return. And my fiance agrees. So, that makes at least 2 of us -
please make that "band" Web site.and I thank you.
-
You read my mind trumpet.I was on the bank web site looking at some of their old video. It looks so much snappier when they high step it on and off the field. Why do we do away with the neat traditions that we have?I would leave the script Zips in the file drawer however...too much of a rip off.how about returning to high step only and leave the walking to Can't. -
I work with a West Point grad. He's very concerned about the Akron game.He says Army is down.Don't know if that's common knowlege...I don't follow them.

Yeah...in basketball, the seedings could be just what place you finished the season. have tie breakers for those with the same conf. record.I see what you mean in football. that's a tough one.One division makes sense for basketball. We have an end of season tournamement which is based on both divisions playing one another with no consideration of division. In football the divisions matter because the top of the east plays the top of the west. So winning an East division title or a West division title means something in football. -
Yeah...why not go back to one division? Please discuss....

I did that once '71 and will never do it again.I'm no techy at TV, however, if you are just going to stream the scoreboard feed...make it for free. You can't even watch online and listen to the radio because there's about 30 seconds diff. There's got to be a way to seperate the feed for the Web from the feed to the scoreboard.

I agree our non-conference games were weak...and I've never thought we would get an at-large bid no matter how many wins we had. However, when someone points out Akron's non-confernece schedule, they are, in reality, indicting the quality of the MAC. In a major conference 13-3 is a heck of a record and a ticket to the dance....not in the MAC.Perhaps I state the obvious, but I don't think anyone has just come out and said it in all the critical comments made about the conference. If we're guilty of one thing, perhaps it's not realizing what life is like as a mid-major.

I've been saying this from the beginning Skip.We need cutting-edge executives in that job...not re-tread coaches who have never been in a board room.It should be run like a business...not a team.Like I said earlier, if I rifled off an e-mail like that to a customer, I would be His-tor-ee!Let me just say this....I know nothing about how this guy is doing his job, except that he is being accused of not lobbying hard enough for us.However, I know from holding an executive-level job for a corporation for many, many years that it's raised a red flag when I see someone do something as inapprorpriate as sending a derogatory e-mail to somebody. It was really disturbing, and surprising from someone in such a position. And for me personally, I would be concerned about whether he has exhibited this behavior in other similar situations. And if so, has this behavior possibly been detrimental to MAC members, who he represents. If people perceive you a certain way, your influence with them dramatically decreases. If this is the case, it probably would not be beneficial to have someone like this lobbying on our behalf. -
There is something wrong with a system when you go from a number 10 seed to nothing.

See how important hitting free throws are in the final seconds of the game. That is what put this game away for the Ducks.
