  1. I had that thought in 2010 also.... And then they came here and took us to Overtime.
  2. No. My point was that I want to see him do something other than a turnaround fade away jumper when he has his back to the basket. That was just one option. Yes, I would like to see him make an additional pass in the low post, as an option. But, I was cautioning you about making shooting percentage conclusions after just 4 games of a 30 game season. I also added that players know who they can trust to finish plays.
  3. Dave. I like just about everything in this post. But, please don't compare a players shooting percentage to someone from last year when we are only 4 games into a 30 game season. And trust me, players know how well their fellow teammates are capable of finishing plays.
  4. Post players should have a high shooting percentage. I don't disagree about having Tree take open jumpers in the paint. I just see a problem with the step-back jumpers when he has his back to the basket, because he can't get to the hole.
  5. My Thoughts: 1) I'm starting to get the feeling that things are going to be a lot harder for Treadwell this year, without Zeke on the floor. It's easier for teams to block him from getting to the basket without another real scoring threat down low. And I sure hope he doesn't turn into a jump shooter because of it. If that happens, our scoring will suffer. I'd rather see him learn to pass back out to the shooters, or get more confidence that Big Dog or Pat can finish plays for us with an extra pass down low. I think that's the only way that the floor is going to open up for him to do his thing. 2) If Nyles becomes a shooter, that's an unexpected part of our arsenal. He's going to get open looks when teams have to spread the floor to defend our shooters. 3) I wasn't all that impressed by the win, considering that we beat them by 30 last year. I think we had many, many opportunities to put them away, and never played consistently enough for a long enough stretch to do it. I believe that we are 20+ points better than CSU. 4) Have we ever had this many guys at one time that can score a lot of points? Seems like half of the team has the ability to be the highest scorer on any given night.
  6. Bron also talked about Akron in his opening monologue when he hosted Saturday Night Live.
  7. Not sure if this one is in here: In We Are Marshall, Jack Lengyel is talking to an assistant coach at his home, played by Matthew Fox, and is trying to get him to stay on the staff. You can see trains in the background, and Jack asks if that's the train line that comes down there from AKRON.
  8. Even though neither team has a strong schedule, you touched on one HUGE difference between Florida State and OSWho, which is that they dominated all of their opponents. But secondly, don't forget that they posted wins against a #3 and #7 ranked team along the way, with the win against the #3 team on the road. Meanwhile, OSWho hasn't even PLAYED a team ranked in the Top-10 in the last two years, until yesterday. And that opponent was just barely at that point. I agree with you that Auburn is the more tested team because of their schedule. But, I like the chances of matching Florida State's defense against the Gus Malzahn offensive system.
  9. Great idea. I hope you enjoyed the game.
  10. Note To The Suckeyes: Upgrade your OOC scheduling, and maybe you'd be better prepared when you actually have to play a good team at the end of the season. You got exactly what you asked for, and gave me such an enjoyable night watching football.
  11. That's what I'm thinking. That kind of money doesn't come flowing through the door every day. Besides that, It's just a wasted opportunity to let MAC recruits know that they can get to a major bowl game from the MAC. And that hurts.
  12. No kidding. Yet, some of them decide to do it HERE, on a ZIPS chat site, where they are regarded as a competitor. I continue to wonder: Wouldn't it be much easier for them to spew this rhetoric on sites where the rest of their robotic, programmed followers will nod in approval at everything they write?
  13. That's why I separated Capi from Pressley and James in my original post where they were referenced.
  14. Nothing even needs to be said. I 100% agree with him.
  15. That would be even better yet. You just can't have small guys on a 3-man front.
  16. Here's the dilemma. Guys like Capi, along with CJ James and Pressley from this year, fit far better at an end position in a 4-3 defense.
  17. LOL. DeAngelo Hall probably sealed his status in the NFL draft with his performance that day. The poster asked about having a rush linebacker with a 3-man front next year, and I was pointing out that our old defense provided the same thing. It wasn't a defense of the defense at all. We stunk defensively. I just think people get too obsessed with what the defense was called (numerically), and not how it operated. The biggest difference is that we have more guys who can tackle a ball carrier now besides Brian Wagner. Blue and Gold: Yes, there had always been talk about the difficulty of recruiting DLs in the MAC. But the question will be, is our improved ability this year on DL sustainable? Or did we just have the right guys together for one year? I understand we'll be much thinner up there next season, with Grice as the only returning starter?
  18. For those who go to a lot of road football games, and were paying attention, you would have witnessed the difference yourself. Just compare the courtesy, hospitality and the overall way people treated you when making road trips to Kentucky and Tennessee vs. OSWho. Up until the last decade or so, I had spent a lot time in Florida, but never in the "real" South. But, my wife's family all live in the South. When I started spending a lot of time with them, I was absolutely ASTOUNDED at the way children respected adults, and the way they talked to them. I couldn't believe that teenagers were responding to me using "yes sir". That's a very, very rare occurrence up here.
  19. Not to open up a can of worms, but that's precisely what the 3-3-5 was doing. Stokes played a LB position that was often a rush position, and Mackey was a Rover/Safety who often played a linebacker role. WAY too many people got caught up in what the numbers said, and not how it actually operated. I think going with a 4 man front was something that was possible with the DL talent we've had the past couple of years, but may be much tougher next year. The 3-4 would make much better utilization of our big-time depth at LB. Lets face it people. We just flat-out have better talent on that side of the ball than we've had in the recent past. And that's been the difference.
  20. This is getting so funny. I can't count how many times I've heard the "SEC won't play in cold weather" argument from OSWho fans. They may as well be saying, "If we can get them in the mud and snow and nobody can get footing or hold onto the ball, we might have a chance". Bowl Games are played indoors or in good weather stadiums for many reasons. But, it's especially pleasing and comfortable for the fans, and it puts both teams on fair and equal conditions to succeed. Let me add: Did our resident OSWho Defender just call Tennessee a one-hit wonder? If so, I wonder where that puts the school that's won only 1 title between 1968 and 2013?
  21. Because it doesn't fit into their formula of finding the easiest way to get themselves into national championship contention. Wait until the new system puts a higher premium on SOS.
  22. Excellent Post. It's the typical mentality of OSWho fans. They want you to perceive them differently than reality, which is that they have only 1 title in the last 45 years. They want you to regard them as superior anyway, or they lash out. They have more excuses than Obama for everything that doesn't go their way. And the more the Big 10 diminishes in significance, the more they get angrily defensive. And it's fans of all ages, not just the young ones you'd expect. It's like they're all born with the "my daddy told me OSWho is the best....so they are the best" mentality, like mechanical talking robots.
  23. LOL !! Yes, we did indeed follow this path once ourselves. Also, if you recall, there was plenty of talk on this board about Martin, four years ago.
  24. As I said earlier, they got screwed by not having a good enough "name" to be ranked decently in the pre-season polls. If they were, they'd legitimately have a crack at the NC game, if the pollsters are indeed placing a premium on "unbeaten". I once saw someone on here (please identify yourself) suggest that we should NOT have preseason polls. I couldn't agree more. It gives an unfair advantage to certain teams, right out of the blocks, before they have done anything to prove their value. Take OSWho for example. I believe they were ranked #2 in preseason? And they've been leapfrogged 4 times this year, and still have the inside track on a NC Game bid? Would that have happened if they didn't have such a superior position before they even played a game? It would be the equivalent to a race car driver being given the poll position, based on his name, without running any qualifying heats.
