Like I said, I'll take 4. I had 4 this year, I'll take 4 next year, and I'll purchase 4 when the new facility opens.

Captain, are you saying we may move some OL to DL? What do you consider "interesting?"Also, I had been checking rivals on a daily basis concerning Morgan Williams and his collegiate future. But after this news, maybe we should reserve the rest of our scholarships for JUCO DL's?We've already got Gary Pride verballed, and after watching the wideout from Florida cut up the Suckeyes as an all-purpose back (ala, poor-man's Reggie Bush), I'm pretty excited about the possibilities Pride could bring to an all-purpose back role. He's got blazing speed.

Thanks for the props. I don't know if it as much a secret as a cultural problem in Summit and Stark Counties. A person can't drive through Akron without knowing the University is there, and everyone knows they have sports teams so it can't be a secret. The cultural problem must be challenged head on and the only way to do that is in person. Absolutely yes! Absolutely yes! I have a dream... that one day the counties of both Summit and Stark are UA Zips fans! But let's begin with the U. Then the city. Then the ABJ. Then the county of Summit. Then the counties of 1) Stark, 2) Medina and 3) Portage. If we could just get the county of Summit to fall in love with the Zips we'd sell out every football and basketball game! Tickets would be a hot commodity. The other 3 counties have nothing going for them as far as entertainment or culture (no, McKinley high school doesn't counts, unless you're a small-town hick.) We've got a freakin' D-1 athletic program here!!! But as of now, we can't even get our own UA students very passionate.I think the ultimate answer is winning. If we string some winning football and basketball seasons together, I think people will come out of the woodwork.

You're probably right. The point I was trying to make is that OSU's defense didn't play any worse than might have been expected. But, the offense certainly did not play up to what was expected of them. Florida could have put up more than 41. However, if OSU's offense could have had any punch at all Monday night, it would have kept Florida's offense off the field a bit more. But I agree, it doesn't matter. Florida dominated that game in every possible way. Especially where it counts most - the line of scrimmage. I've never seen OSU get dominated at the line -both offensive and defensive- like that in my life.
-
OSU's offensive line got utterly destroyed every single snap. And OSU's defensive line got no penetration at all; they got pushed off the line of scrimmage. By half time it just felt like OSU was fortunate to ever stop Florida from simply getting a first down.
-
We've also gotta schedule a 1-AA team to come into the RubberBowl the week prior to the OSU game! All the NFL teams have a handful of scrimmages before the start of the regular season. OSU is getting YSU. We can't go into Cowlumbus next season with the Suckeyes, having had played a scrimmage game already, as our first opponent! The analysts claim that a team improves most in a season from the first game to the second. If that's true, then it's just plainly unfair to take this unexperienced team into Cowlumbus for our first game. Many D-1 schools consistently play 1-AA's as their first game, don't they? I'm thinking that Kansas State used to always beat up on a 1-AA first game of the year? It would give us a win, and get our new players some game experience before sending them into the lion's den that is OSU's stadium.

Honestly, I've been more worried than excited about this game since after the Central Michigan game this year. We pretty much laid an egg of a season after the NC State win.I'm afraid we are going to get obliterated. But maybe JD can glean a few ideas from Urban Myers' play calling? Is there any chance of us keeping OSU's defense off balace like Florida did? Also, having a mobile QB (be it either CJ or Hakes) is going to be a big asset as oppossed to the less-than-swift-of-foot Luke Getsy.

Is that Oreo Fat for short?We don't need anymore DB's!!! DL's, DL's & more DL's!!!!!!!

I'm definitely buying season tickets - probably 4. I always try to take some friends with me to the games, but I don't have enough cash to afford a box. So it'll probably be 4 season tickets.I'd like to see us start a tradition with Youngstown State. A lot of D-1 schools open with D-1AA schools (I know, those labels are outdated now.) If we'd open each year with Youngstown State I think it'd make for a nice rivalry with a good crowd, and give our team a warm-up game before we start playing the big boys. Other good D-1AA "scrimages" (no offense eguins) could be Illinois State, Indiana State or UMass. But they would all have to play in Akron every year. No way does a D-1 school travel to a D-1AA school anymore. That just doesn't happen; those days are over. The D-1AA has to make the trip each year. If Youngstown State wouldn't want that each year, I don't think it'd be too difficult to find a D-1AA school to come in.I know a lot of the Zipsnation disagree with me on this one. Many of the Nation only want to see D-1 schools scheduled. But there are a lot of BCS conference schools that open with D-1AA schools. Like I said, it's a good "break in" game before playing the big guys.

What was the story with Dantley Cline anyway? Was he in some sort of trouble last semester? And how's Jerrell Stoudamire coming along academically, if anyone knows? Does it look like he'll be available next season?
-
Who wants him?! Let him go somewhere else! One year of eligibility? Yawn. He'd have to sit out this year, right? So he wouldn't be eligible to play till next season. He hardly played at Miami. He's an underachiever. Let's just be glad we've got Gary Pride verballed and concentrate now on getting a verbal from Morgan Williams!

You guys are bummin' me out! Did we use a construction manager on either the field house or student center projects? If we did, then we should be okay because those facilities are top notch. If not, then I suppose our concerns are valid. Did the city of Akron use a contruction manager on the Canal Park project? Again, if so, then we shouldn't be too worried, because Canal Park is the most beautiful stadium in minor league baseball. But the U better NOT screw this up!!! This is far too important a project to be done half-@$$ed. In the current american culture, a U's football stadium is a (THE?) hallmark structure on campus. Thousands of non-student fans do not visit campus each week to sit in a science or arts building. But this simple and obvious fact encourages me. The U absolutely must realize this. Thus, they absolutely HAVE TO make this football stadium a gem of a facility. And if the U constructs to the same standards as other recent projects - the student center, field house, rec center, the new liberal arts facility, the new honors dorms - then I don't thind we have anything to be worried about.
