Should’ve built a new basketball arena in 2009 instead.
We should have hired Jim Grobe to supervise the construction.

They do give them away for free to students and they still don't show. That alone speaks to the quality of the product.
Actually, the student fees largely support athletics, so they a paying.
Think of the students non participation like this. You are forced to buy a gallon of milk because you need a cup of it to make something and milk at your store is only sold in gallon sizes. You make the dish requiring a cup of milk and put the reminder in the refrigerator. After a while, the remainder of the gallon of milk spoils in the back of your refrigerator. You have two choices:
1. Drink the milk and get sick.
2. Pour the milk down the drain and write off the loss.
The students are pouring the milk down the drain.

Football program doesn’t deserve a dime from anyone. Nobody should go to their games. Go watch some soccer and basketball. Ridiculous
They should give away thousands of tickets. Seems to be the right price for the product.

There won't be many MAC teams that score zero points this week. In 2025, it's almost impossible to get shut out. It's a level of malpractice ranking right up there with a doctor amputating the wrong leg. Wyoming isn't even a very good team.
Joe is finished. They can fire him tomorrow or they can wait until the end of the season. I really don't care when. If they fire him now, it makes the type of fan who always wants to fire the coach happy, but they will probably want to fire two replacements by the end of the season. That level of Nihilism is insatiable. I don't think it matters either way, but I don't care at this point. The program isn't dead, but it's close.

Findley looks scared. He is hopping around on his drop backs and ducking on his throws.
This is the reason why Bill Belichick benched Drew Bledsoe for Tom Brady. A shell shocked QB is a good reason to bench one. Findley has been under siege his entire time at Akron like Bledsoe was. It just happens.

Listen up Zips Fans:
I do NOT want to pull a Jimmy Johnson on this one. However, THIS is the Game, IMHO will decide de the Season.
As a Joe Akron, is this accurate?
As a MAC fan, will this set the pace?
Your thoughts below......
I think Joe Akron doesn't know what to think because he doesn't really follow the team closely enough. If Joe Akron is treated to an exciting game with maybe a last second win for the Zips, he might come to another game.
I don't think most MAC fans care about this game, but they should. How the league plays against like opponents is important.

You should probably admit that you were demonstrated to be wrong on your point, instead of pontificating some boilerplate, generic nonsense. Have the integrity to admit when someone demonstrates something you said is wrong. It's the first level of intellectual integrity and courage.
You also must be living under a rock if you think most people share in your opinion that this is "the greatest day in American history" and that Tomorrow will be better. Just about nobody believes that, because all we're doing is goosestepping backwards, erasing all the gains made over the past 70-years in just about everything.
Goodness, you're the first one to complain about the current state of college athletics, and you're going to make that statement with a straight face? LoL
I win.

Usually around 20,000 give or take a couple of thousand either way. When Wyoming hosted Texas and Nebraska a few years back they added 10,00 temporary seats to handle the Longhorn and Cornhusker faithful. War Memorial Stadium's capacity has been reduced to 25,000 something, down from 29,000 with the recent renovations. "The War", as we call it, had a peak of 32,000 seats 20 years ago or so, but the number has steadily been reduced with each renovation. Given that the State of Wyoming's population is listed at 576,851 according to the 2020 Census, I think they've right sized the War. UW is the only 4-year institution of higher education in the state so it's facilities are top notch because they don''t have to compete with another state sponsored university.
The latest renovations to the "War"
The wife of a guy I work with graduated from UW in the mid 80s and was a cheerleader. She still looks good even though she's lived in the greater Phoenix area since then and has a ton of freckles on her cleavage like aging Arizona women get. In any event, she goes back every year for homecoming and still loves it.

I'll be brutally honest. This is really, really, REALLY basic stuff that (judging by your age) you have absolutely no excuse not to understand. How are you an Akron grad and not know this? Marginal Rates aren't a universal rate. Their brackets. So while the Marginal rate might be 91%, ZERO people pay that as a total of their income:
(just an overly simplistic example):
1-20,000 = 5%
20,001-40,000 = 10%
40,001-100,000 = 20%
100,001-150,000 = 60%
150,001-200,000 =91%Someone making $200,000 when the marginal rate is 91%, isn't taking home $18,000. They're taking home $126,500. Just because the marginal rate is 91%, doesn't mean it's your effective rate. Only money over that margin is taxed at that amount. And yes, yes it is a fact that the marginal rate was 91% from 1951-1963; and era of unmatched economic prosperity in the USA, where we expanded the middle-class to the largest middle-class in human history.
You have no excuse to be at your age and not understand this. And I'm sorry, you cannot argue that the wealthy in the 1950s were just hiding their money in more creative ways. No, there wasn't as concentration of wealthy in that wealthy class as there is today. It's just a fact. Our country was most prosperous when it had higher marginal taxrates to prevent the concentration of wealthy. It is a fact.
I can't believe I have to continue to bore myself with this but here we are.
The wealth of a society has to do with income gained from production and that income turning into purchasing of goods and services. There is no GDP if people aren't earning and spending money. The more money someone makes, the more they can buy. The more money someone makes, the less time they have to work in order to buy the things they need. Prosperous societies make and spend more than others. Prosperous societies also have workforce efficiencies that allow those who have bought all they want to relax, or it gives more time for those who want to make more to do that.
Today is the greatest day in American history. Tomorrow will be better today.

Shes currently on the injured list after falling at a WNBA game earlier in the summer...Red Panda! She's awesome!
The first thought that popped in my mind was, I wonder if she has injury insurance that covers the loss of business revenue.

I see they are doing a kind of fan fest event with food trucks, etc. I hope they get a big paying turnout so I don't have to come on here and say they should have given away 15,000 free tickets.

Could enrollment be trending up?
The U’s website shows just under 14k for spring 25 semester. Just read a post on LinkedIn from the university’s official account that we have over 15k enrolled. Great to see assuming those numbers are final..
If the students are high quality, I'm all for it. Steady, sustained growth. I knew a guy who owned a business and always said, "You can just as easily die of indigestion as you can of starvation.".

Go to Swensons at least once
While I would normally agree 💯, but we are trying to help someone who will be spending less than 24 hours in NE Ohio. The ride back to DC could be extended a couple of hours with all of the bathroom stops after a trip to Swenson's.

Eat at Luigi's. Lock 15 or Missing mountain if you want more of a bar brewery.
Luigi's is a good recommendation for an out of towner. Historic Akron pizza parlor. It's open late if you want a snack after the game. In addition to a pizza, get a salad with cheese on it. They only take cash but have an ATM there. If you want to stay in Akron, there is a Courtyard 50 yards away. I stay there when I go back to Akron and it's nice. There is a speakeasy attached. There is also a restaurant next door and if I remember the food is good. The neighborhood can be cool. Nothing is more than 50 yards away.

I'm not sure, my friend has set up the reservations. I think it's an Embassy Suites. We're going to the game and returning to Northern Virginia on Friday.
Embassy Suites tells me North Canton. If you have time, the NFL Hall of Fame is close. I guess my expertise in eating and drinking won't help. Enjoy the game.

Wyoming alumnus and fan here. Another UW alumnus is accompanying me from Virginia and we’ll be pulling into town a few hours before kickoff.
Question No. 1: What’s the parking situation on game day — where’s the best place to park?
Question No. 2: Any recommendations on places to eat before the game?
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to the game.Where are you staying? How long will you be staying?

The precedent was set today that the actions of previous regimes should not penalize the current roster. Whatever moral high horse you want to stand on is your choice, but I don't view accepting an inconsistent and undeserving punishment for the current staff & roster as morally just - especially from the morally bankrupt NCAA. The amount of times they've screwed over the University... F em. Auburn and NMSU weren't penalized for failing APRs in the same time frame as Akron, and the APR doesn't even work with the current model and landscape for college athletics. Akron has had YOY improvements under JoeMo that haven't been enough to pull us out of the hole Arth dug, so they've clearly been working towards correcting the problem. I also don't think Akron loses this case if they choose to fight it, especially if they were able to get the NCAA killer Dave Yost's assistance in the fight. A win vs the NCAA would be great publicity.
Show me 7 automatic losses on this schedule. It's the most winnable schedule we've had in a long long time, and 6-6 should be the minimum threshold for success this year. Akron is known for having a losing football program - the PR can't get worse. Might as well try to get rid of the cloud hanging over the season.
Joe Mo and player(s) have liked tweets today mentioning their BS punishment and suggesting that Akron should fight it. Coaching and playing with this looming over the program can't be fun or easy. Having a spine and standing up to the NCAA could give the program a jolt.
I'm not standing on a moral high horse. Morality has never been my strong suit. "Being right is the boobie prize." A contractor once told me this. Fighting and winning this case in 2027 would get us nothing and be little more than a distraction.
I really don't give a crap what guys are Tweeting. In fact, the transfer portal has given me the go-ahead to not give a crap about them since their loyalty is about an inch deep. I'd rather they put their efforts towards getting ready for the season. After all, they are professionals now. I think winning against Wyoming would give this team more of a jolt in 2025 than winning a lawsuit against the NCAA in 2027.

Game Number One: Wyoming
in Akron Zips Football
Posted · Edited by GP1
I always say the athletic department should benefit the athletes students alumni fans and general community around Akron.
Regardless of outcome, did the athletic department do all it could last night to benefit these five groups?
