Yes the strength and conditioning director left U of A for a position at Wadsworth high school. He did his best work with the soccer team.In MAC basketball he was serviceable. I attended the NCAA basketball tournament in Pittsburgh the other schools were way more physically developed than Akron. So donations are needed. -

The Zips competed with most teams they played against in the first half of games. In the second half the Zips would run out of gas against teams they lost to.Better strength and conditioning is needed. -
The Strength and conditioning and recruiting coordinators are challenged. During MAC play the Zips always seem to run out of gas.

They don’t do well because the teams they play in the tournament’s are usually bigger and stronger.Strength and conditioning should also be addressed by the AD. -
The Zips strength and conditioning department is the worst .The players are always overwhelmed and overmatched physically at the D1 level no matter who’s the coach.

Akron needs better strength & conditioning.

Full preseason practices can begin Oct. 14, with 30 practices permitted over the 42 days before the start of the season. The council also approved a transition period that allows teams to participate in strength and conditioning and skill instruction for up to 12 hours per week between Sept. 21 and Oct. 13.

I hope to see a bench develop out of the bye week Clark.Kent State doesn’t have a bench either. No MAC team really has dominant subs.It comes down to strength and conditioning and the zips need improvement in that area some way?

Games 11 and 12- DC Holiday Hoops Fest Tournament
monrowe replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I was at the basketball tournament and from my observation the zips were the best team there talent wise. The problem is that they had the least bulk they got exposed for being to light in the ass. They might want to look into getting a better strength and conditioning program.I suspect this is the issue with football also not the coaches??
