zipsbandman
I happened to listen to the recruiting show on 1350, and I managed to pick up a few things. These guys really liked Alex Allen and even went as far as describing him as a big ten player. Sounds like a good pick up there, Also, there is a good chance that qb prospect Carlton Jackson will be a zip. If this is true, then that's huge for us. Probably the success of MAC quarterbacks played a major part in this one. Also, I thought I heard that we had a verbal from a 6'5 wide receiver, but I am not sure if I heard correctly at the time. Did anyone else here this? They were throwing a lot of names that I have not heard about from insiders.com, and I did not pick up all of them. A kid from Shaker Heights was mentioned as well along with a couple of other Florida prospects. Anyway, this is going to be an outstanding recruiting class. This is where we start building our championship team. One guy commented that he would be shocked if this was not the best class in the MAC. I have to agree. Big Zip
I think JD had a lot of great selling points for his recruiting. Not the least of which is these guys will be in the third year when JD makes his first trip to Ohio State. I know its a long time from now, but I hope we are building this team with an eye on beating the Buckeyes in 2007.
zff
First of all my hat goes off to Joe And Fred for putting on a great show. Good interviews and great Zip coverage. And very little Can't State Great job guys!!!! Thanks Fread said that he found out that Carlton Jackson is a frim commit to Akron. I hope this is correct a huge pick for the Zips . Ok here are the names I got that are not found on the Net. Vernon Chambers from Shaker Heights DE 6-2 220. From they way that they were talking about this young man he must have went to prep school or is a prop 48??? Daune Long, from bucknuts.com, said this kid would have been a BigTen palyer if his grades were in order. If any knows please pass the word. Any way a big get for the Zips. Jay Sharps - from Westerville South WR 6-5 200 4.5 forty. This kid is a high jumper with a lot of skill. Here is the link for his rival.com bio. J Sharps Bio Clarence McPherson Miami Edison DE 6-3 235. I could not find any thing out on this young man. I do know he was not an all county selection. There was a couple more names but I did not get them.

zipboy
Here were the names that I remember with their comments Carlton Jackson - Long said he was very similar to Omar Jacobs at BG, a huge pick up. Alex Allen - Long said he was the steal of the MAC and would contribute this year and play a lot. He loved this guy. Terricko Marshall from Maple Hts - Long rated him as #2 best DE in the state. He said grades may be a question mark. Ray Sylor- prop 48 from Perry last year. Long was not high on him. Vernon Chambers - prop 48 or prep school from Shaker Hts - Long loved him, said that he was high level big 10 guy and should play next year. Bryant McMillan RB from Cincy - good football player Zak Anderson - Long did not know much about the PA guys. Joe and Fred said he was the best lineman Scott Uziel - no comment Merce Poindexter - no comment Eliot Bates- Pitt people are still pretty upset he picked Akron. He may play sooner as well. Chris Jacquemein - Long said he would not play QB. If he had played 1 position, he would have been a big time player but sacrificed for the team, an all MAC type kid. Keith Hubener- big OL Jermaine Lindsey - Syracuse loved this guy and we beat them Joe Tuzze - FB/LB Al Tariz Bian? - LB from NJ that we beat Can't for Jose Cruz - supposedly he is a solid committ for Akron. Jay Sharp - tall receiver, Long loved this guy too. Brandon Anderson - will play next year DeAndre Scott - a legit 4.3 guy. Long said one of the most underrated guys out there and a huge pick up for Akron Chris Kern? - OL from Upper Arlington, a project Clarence McPherson - no comment Luke Getsy - no comment Andy Allemen - Long was surprised he moved to OL. they said 3 other kids real fast at the end and said they had no info on them. I think 2 were from FL. I have heard Long before, he is a straight shooter guy. He said a few times that he did not realize Akron had got some of these kids and sounded almost shocked at how strong this class was. On a final note, Brian Hainline(spelling?) from Glen Oak was one of the stud receivers in the state and is going to columbus. He was on the show. His brother is the #1 QB prospect in the state of ohio for next year a 6ft 6 in kid. Common sense he will committ to osu, but he was wearing an AKRON ZIP cap at the recruiting show. You never know. Long (a big 10 guy) said that the MAC has better QBs than the big 10. And from my point of view, a kid playing in a JD Brookhart offense for 4 years or a Jim Tressel offense, hands down Akron gives a QB a better chance to make the pros. Great show by Joe and Fred! Guest BZ
Brian Hartline is the WR going to OSU. His brother is a big time QB too. However, OSU is in on a few QB,s already.

Thanks for the notes, Zipboy! Also: I believe the guy from NJ is Al-Teric Balaam. He was very high on Maryland and Rutgers last time I looked. There is stuff about him all over the internet. It would be a HUGE catch to get him.
Guest Mr Zippo
DeAndre Scott: Could someone provide basic info on this player? Position, size, high school, etc. No news isn't good news. Thank you!
zipboy
He is a WR/DB and played at Cleveland South. I think that he is around 6 ft 1in and weighs about 175.
Guest BZ
That information is bogus. Jackson will not be a Zip.

Guest Guest
The Alan, reference is pretty funny. I actually get it. Hoever, I doubt that Alan would waste his time on this site. As much as I am a Zip fan, it is pretty darn discouraging how dead this board is. However, Please show where "all of my posts are crap" I will be waiting....
