Final from BG: E.MIch 24 BG 21 The Eagles took the ball at their own 24, with approx 1:30 left and scored a TD with 33 seconds left. They only had one time out left when they started the drive, AND DID NOT HAVE TO EVEN USE IT ON THE DRIVE!!!!!. BG missed 53 yard fg at the gun.

Incredible. The Zips can put a big ding in BG's hopes next week. Gonna have to put things together in the next week though, let's hope we can chalk the ugliness up to being a rivalry game...

Is anybody in the East any good? This is looking like a really lopsided year. Just win the East and then anything could happen.
Buffalo is solid. They are now the favorite to win the East. We play them at home in an emotionally-charged game. The Zips just need to keep winning. 3 more games to be bowl-eligible. 4 games to win the East.

This is actually a little bit of good news/bad news. While this obviously hurts BG, now the EMU away game looks to be no cakewalk (if it ever was). I wonder if Andy Schmidt is back playing QB for the Eagles, because he's a pretty decent QB.

This conference as a whole is pretty wacky.Ball State looks like a team that should hit the top-25 soon and may have an outside shot at sneaking into a BCS bowl.Western is right behind them. They are a very good team as well and should easily take one of the MAC bowl bids.Central has fallen off just a bit, but they are still right there in contention for a bowl spot. After that you've got a crap shoot. We've been very Jekyl and Hyde. Difficult to predict, but still one of only 4 teams in the conference at .500 or above.Buffalo seems to have finally turned it around. NIU is getting things back together and had an impressive showing today against Tennessee.Bowling Green is alot like us. Jekyl and Hyde. They can win just about any game, but they can lose just about any game as well (Exhibit A: Losing to EMU). I don't know what to make of EMU after today. Can't is a pathetic excuse for a football team and is only in games because of a pesky QB.Miami has fallen off the face of the earth.Ohio has gotten to the point where they look so demoralized from the close losses that they've just given up.Temple has a great defense, but injuries are killing them on offense.Toledo had one nice game against Fresno St., but still managed to lose and have done little of anything else all year, getting shut out by Ball State today. At this point it is pretty clear that the West is the superior division. That said, the East will still have a representative at the MACC. Right now it seems like the East champion is just going to have the right to get slaughtered on national TV by Ball State. You just never know though.

Hello everyone from sunny Florida. Yes, there are good teams in the MAC East, and one of them is The University of Akron.Like you said, just win the east. Six wins could do it for us. We are at three and we need three more.

That would put us at 4-4 in the MAC. Don't forget that we use overall conference records now, not just the East. I would say that 4 more wins should do it. Only win three more and we're setting ourselves up for a tie-breaker scenario.Besides, I think Akron should be able to win the rest of the games we have left, looking at the schedule.

I find it interesting that Akron is winning their games on the road and have not won one at home yet. It's good that they can win on the road, but I'd really like for them to start winning at home. I do think this team can win the rest of the games on the schedule, but like everyone is saying, which team is going to show up. Wouldn't it be something if the Zips finish around the top in the MAC and not around last where most had us finishing? Credit to the coaching staff and players for playing their hearts out every week with something to prove.

Yeah I agree with you there, Akron is capable of winning all of the rest of their games. It's giving me high blood pressure watching this team though. Like everyone is saying, the only thing stopping Akron from becoming a good team in the MAC is themeselves. They won't be a "good" team until they can play to their abilities every game.

While that's true, there have been only two home games and they were against what is arguably the best team in the MAC and a pretty good Big East team, so the fact that the wins have been on the road should be encouraging. I'm not ready to put us into the good category, but in the weaker East, we definitely have a shot. "Worst" to first? :)

Quite possibly the most light hearted, optimistic post I've ever seen from GP1. What's the occasion? ;)

Sunny Florida I would guess.

Partly the sun. Partly the evidence of the quality of plastic surgeons in FL. Feeling even better since last night after watching Big Ben win another late last night in person. While I get disgusted at the Zips sometimes, I think my posts have been caked in a positive outlook about this team. I think five wins is a realistic goal for this team with the talent they have and the generally poor state of the MAC. Six wins is also a possibility and should be a yearly minimun expectation. We can meet that expectation this season. I'm feeling good about them right now, but they need to believe and not me. The Zips are a good team guys!
