#1 rowdy
Big game tonight as far as we are concerned on espn2. Since Temple already has 3 loses in conference play it would be nice to see Temple come out with a win and leave us alone at the top of the East Division. Although we still play both these teams it would nice to have a little breathing room. What does everyone else think?
GoZips88
OU and Miami are a close second to Can't on the list of teams I can't stand. The way we've been playing, we need all of the buffer and cards to play we can get - GO TEMPLE!!!! Didn't realize they were on - thanks for the info. johnnyzip84
I didn't realize that Temple QB Adam DiMichele was going to be back so soon. This guy could really make a difference for Temple. I know it's a long way off and a lot has to happen before the game remains meaningful in terms of the MAC East race, but I don't exactly relish playing the Owls with this guy back in the regular season closer. johnnyzip84
Our most recent JUCO QB snub Boo Jackson is looking pretty good tonight so far for OU. I don't care what their records are, beating either one of these teams on the road will be difficult for the Zips. I see a lot of speed on both teams.OU's defense looks to be pretty solid, too. The next month or so is going to be crazy in this conference.
MDZip
I sent in a text message to scroll across the top of the screen at the beginning of the game about the Zips (and encouraging Temple) but haven't seen it yet. Maybe I should have mentioned a BCS team.

I guess it's hard to tell exactly what you're seeing in a game where both team's records are not so good to start with, but Ohio U doesn't look so bad to me. I think they may be better off with Boo Jackson as the unquestioned starter (after Theo Scott was hurt in the game against the red and silver), and this Garrett at TB looks very quick. Jackson has been very accurate AND a threat to run.
ksu sucks
Temple looks like crap out there. If Akron were half as consistent as they should be I'd take UA by double digits later this season. OU doesn't look bad at all. Definetly going to compete in the East. Quickzips
I'll tell ya one thing. The MAC sure puts the fun and excitement back into the kicking game. So far tonight I've seen Ohio's holder bobble a pretty good snap on a chip shot and Temple's kicker shank another easy chip shot. What's the deal with this? Is there really not that many competent kickers coming out of the high school level or can we just not coach special teams in this conference? bigzipguy
The bad thing about this game is that I do not beleive that anyone observing this game can possibly think that either one of these teams can beat Bowling Green, which is what we need. We need help from N. Ill to beat BG this Sat.

MDZip
Well that helps - that's "probably" the outcome we wanted. Temple wins.
ZachTheZip
Akron remains alone in 1st place. Thanks Temple.
RootforRoo44
I would have to say that from what we were shown on ESPN2, there is no way you could tell that it was not a catch. Though at first luck I said to myself "there is no way that was a catch". But they called it a catch and gave him the first down, and there was not proof that it was not from what i could see. I guess that would be what we wanted though

Z.I.P.
so the question now is can our D step up and play some ballGood grief! What an awful display of football. (and I'm one of the few who admits preferring MAC football to BCS ball). I watched live the 2nd and 3rd quarters (watching the replay now), and when I left I said to myself, "the only way Temple can win this game is if OU gives it away". Was I ever prophetic. Before this season, I penciled in the final two games, @OU and @Temple as likely defeats for Akron, but having seen Army twice and Eastern Michigan once, I feel both of those teams are a step ahead of either of the two I watched tonight. In fact, Temple tonight looked to be the worst D-1 team I've seen in recent years (first 8 drives - 60 yards & 0 pts). That QB was terrible. As the announcer said, Golden should have found someone else behind center. IOW -- I'm penciling in two Akron victories to finish the season -- over two teams outside the top 110. Akron could win 8 games and still not be in the top 90 in the country. On a positive note, I liked the Pink Out theme. More schools should do that. Pink Zippy?! If we have learned anything about the MAC East this year, it's that anyone can be beaten by anyone......except perhaps one team because we all know
Blue & Gold
Last season Temple shredded our D. Only our D could make Temple's offense look good!

I couldn't take it anymore and switched to Law & Order. Came back and it was still terrible. However, I did like how both teams put pressure on the QB, something we really don't do. If, and that's a big IF, our defense can use these bye weeks to get healthy and make some needed changes, we should have no problem with both of these teams. Did anyone notice that when they showed the MAC east standings, which had Akron on top, they did mention Akron but said Buffalo was the team to watch for. That was so nice of them to give Akron props.
MDZip
Of all of the teams in the division, Buffalo is the one that scares me the most. I think the division may well come down to the winner of that game. Buffalo has two league losses and they are to Western and Central. Bad scheduling break for them, but they were close losses. I believe Central won on a last second field goal. Buffalo is just kind of lurking but they are well within striking distance. Actually, it will be kind of nice to watch everybody pound on each other while we're off, so we can see what we need to do. I don't see much chance that there won't be a tie for first, so I looked up the tiebreaker procedure on the MAC website. Its pretty complicated and at this point there doesn't even appear to be a way to even put forth some possible scenarios but maybe it will be clearer after the next couple of weeks, but if I read it right, if we have to get to criteria 3, West crossover winning percentage, we may be in trouble. Anyway, here is the criteria:MAC Football Tiebreaker Divisional ChampionsThe divisional championship shall be decided on conference winning percentage. If two or more teams are tied for the championship, they shall be considered divisional co-champions. The following tie-breaking formula shall be used to determine which team will represent that division in the MAC Championship game:1. Head-to-head competitiona. In the event of a multiple-team (two or more teams) tie, the team with the best head-to-head record amongst the tied teams wins the tie-breaker;b. In a two-team tie, head-to-head competition will be the first criteria; c. If two teams did not play, the second criteria is used to break the tie; 2. Record of tied teams within the division [versus rank order, highest to lowest, of division teams]a. The above tie-breaker procedure is used to determine rank order in the division;b. Team(s) eliminated in the second tie-breaker criterion are not included in further consideration in the tie- breaking formula;c. Head-to-head competition is again used to break the tie between the remaining tied teams. 3. Comparison of conference winning percentage of cross-over opponents of tied teams;a. Tie-breaker is awarded to the team whose cross-division opponents had the best cumulative conference winning percentage;b. Head-to-head competition is used to break the tie between the two tied teams. 4. If multiple teams remain tied, the final tie-breaker is as follows:a. Record of tied teams versus cross-division opponents in rank order;b. Head-to-head competition is used to break the tie between the two tied teams.
