The Lady Zips opened their 2008-09 basketball season in the JAR against a Pig Ten or is that elevenopponent. The Lady Zips tanked for fifteen minutes , and then, and then, and then, along came Jones.Or was that Baumgartner and company? The Lady Zips took it to the Wolverines for a 58-49 victory.Sweetest part ... watching the team celebrating the "I Believe..." chant with a nice sized contingentof AK-Rowdies. Rowdies, not Howdies for a change. Great job troops.

I don't follow women's basketball much so I don't know how strong the Michigan program is; but, congratulations to the ladies and Coach Kest. Apparently that house cleaning was worth it.

Not to throw a wet towel on a significant win, but Michigan is the B-11's bottom dweller in most seasons. Back in the old days of Lisa Fitch and similar coaches, UA always played UM tight -- in fact, I thought sure Lisa beat them once. Niagara -- now that's the one team Akron has always seemed to have the measure of, even in those 1-3 win seasons. I wish the team well, despite my concerns about the coach's style of "leadership". Go Wahine Zips!

michigan was 19-14 and went to the wnit quarterfinals last year. if that's a bottom dweller team than the big 10 is an amazing conference.

They beat Ke.ntucky in Lexington by 10 a few days before. Very amazing win by the Lady Zips, no two ways about it.
