It sure makes it easier to let JD go next year without a big year. Brandon was ok. They had a ton of talent but lost games they never should have. Who else will be gone? I have to think that Montgomery is on the hot seat. If anyone ever regressed a program it is him. Solich probably gets let go next year if he does not do something.

It's already been reported that Montgomery has been fired.

Montgomery resigned today (link).ESPN LinkI am a little surprised about the Brandon firing. I'm guessing it's attendance as much as anything, as I had noticed that they didn't draw very well at home this year. This might take my estimated JD firing probability from 5% to 10%.

Its being reported that Gregg Brandon has been fired from BGSU. He was: 6-6 this year; 44-30 overall in 6 years; 3 bowl appearances.
This is exactly why the MAC has been around since 1946 and is still a laughing stock. Nobody can seem to get their arms around the fact that six wins is a good season in the MAC. This guy also beat Pitt early in the season. I just don't know what to say. Very foolish move on BG's part. Enjoy your next home in Florida Coach Brandon. You will be in a better place.

Wow, if he had that same record at Akron, posters on here would say he is a great coach and be beggind the administration go give him a big contract extension. At other school they realize that is not a good record. That is the difference between having a winning attitude and having a losing attitude.

I have an idea :D This silliness was inspired by rumors of Cowher being sought by the Browns to coach next year. This got me to thinking. Has ANY coach in a major US sport, at the pro or collegiate level, been the head coach of BOTH teams that consitute a heated rivalry? Has there ever been a baseball manager who has lead both the Giants and the Dodgers, or the Yankees and the Red Sox? or the Redskins/Cowboys, Raiders/Chiefs, Celtics/Lakers, Auburn/Alabama, USC/UCLA, Duke/UNC? I can't think of any, but since it's a hot topic, how about this MAC coaching carousel.Toledo Tom to BGSU.Brandon to UA.JD to Toledo.BTW, my tongue is prominently displayed in my cheek as I type this :D

"Has any coach in a major US sport, at the pro or collegiate level, been the head coach of BOTH teams that constitute a heated rivalry?" None that I can think of. Stengel managed the Yankees and the Mets, and they were rivals of a sort, but that doesn't really count since they never played one another when he managed. But (with advance apology to Dead Horse) if Cowher goes to the Browns next year, he'd be the first. I'd call the Browns/Steelers a heated rivalry.

Dead Horse = GP1 ?!?! you be the judge...
GP1 is a bit long winded for a Dead Horse....
Nice!Dead Horse posters are usually board moderators.I heard over the weekend that Bill Cowher will be the coach of both the Browns, BGSU and his daughters basketball team at Wofford College. Can anyone confirm that rumor?
