Captain Kangaroo
Per The Rasor Blog Jermaine Robinson, a highly rated recruit from Milford Academy, is rumored to have committed to UA. I can confirm - it is true.
ksu sucks
Apparently that "soft" verbal to Toledo was indeed very soft. It's really turning into a great class this year.
RootforRoo44
this is great news...and great to steal one from a conference foe.

ZachTheZip
Excellent news. I'm surprised I haven't read anything about it on the Toledo boards, though.

I was really hoping he would get eligible and come to Toledo. He visited Toledo over the weekend and had his first face to face meeting with the new head coach. Perhaps something at that visit, coupled with what Akron was offering was enough for him to make the switch. Good get guys.

ZachTheZip
Scout now has him as a "soft verbal" to Akron. Looks like we're out as soon as an offer from a "name" school comes along. I've never understood the preference of riding the pine for years just to say you played at a certain school, when being a top star in the MAC virtually guarantees that an NFL team will draft you, and if you're good enough draft you quite early. Especially with the incredible prevalence of digital media in 2008, there is really no reason to not get on the field as early and for as many plays as possible during your collegiate career. If you have the talent to excel, not only are you just as likely to be scouted and/or drafted by playing at a mid-major, you're likely to have MUCH more fun actually playing and not spending half, or more, of your college career standing on the sideline. I suppose it's probably ego, LOTS of lies from major college recruiters "smoking" the kids into believing that they'll play more than the recruiters know they will, and sometimes parents pushing their kids to play for the "big boys". In any case, many, many of these kids would be FAR better served to play at the mid-majors than they are by sitting on their asses at the mega-football-factories.GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip

Good get guys. This post has been awarded the "Backhanded Compliment Post of the Month" award and as such is eligible for the Backhanded Compliment Post of the Year" award. Congratulations Rocketfootball. What's backhanded about it? I gave pure facts and said I was hoping he would get eilgible and come to Toledo. I also said he is a heck of a player and said good get guys. There was no backhanded comment there. It is no surprise that he needs to get eligible, whether it is at Akron, Toledo, or USC for that matter. He originally committed to West Virginia last year. When RR left he decided to check Toledo out and switched to Toledo and signed with the Rockets. Unfortunately he never got eligible and had to enroll in prep school at Milford Academy......a prep school that Toledo coaches suggested for him with the thought that he would sign this year. He remained committed to Toledo, but started looking elsewhere after Amstutz resigned. Minnesota looked at him a bit, but didn't offer. Akron was recruiting him, and he talked to UT's new coach and decided to make an official visit to Toledo last weekend. As I already said, it appears that between what he heard in his face to face meeting with UT's new coach, and was Akron was offering him......he decided to commit to Akron. What he heard from UT's coach is between him and UT's coach. It could be that he just didn't fit into the system or just didn't get the same vibe he got with Tom Amstutz. Akron has recruited the Pittsburgh, PA area well and he must have liked what he saw there.None of that is a backhanded comment....it's just the plain truth. He signed with Toledo last year and was a solid commitment to Toledo until Amstutz resigned. Just plain truth.I really hope he gets eligible to play for whoever it will be.....Akron or whomever. You still have 6-7 weeks to hold onto him.....hopefully you will.
