Main/Exchange Apts/shops project

Recommended Posts

I was under the impression they weren't specifically student rooms, just that they are owned and operated by the university...
UA has nothing to do with this project, as far as I can tell. The apartments are supposed to attract students and young professionals to live downtown.
hmm... i stand corrected. I might look at those apartments next fall when I move out of the dorms. Anyone hear what the possible rent is going to be for one of those places?

It's exclusively for students and faculty. I'm thinking about living there myself next fall. Verrrry nice, just a tad expensive, and only 12 mo. leases available, with no option to sublet them in the summer. I'm from PA, and wouldn't live there in the summer, so I'm not so sure if it's worth it. the website is www.22exchange.com though.actually, if anyone has any info on decent apartments within walking distance of campus, but not in the complete ghetto, feel free to shed some light here. thanks!

Woah..I just checked out the website...I am also looking for rooms off campus next year. These prices aren't too bad compared to other places. This is actually cheaper than what I heard people were paying at Fir Hill! This definetly deserves a closer look! Thanks everyone for the info!

I'll second that. I really need info on good student housing around campus. Because I'm only going to be living with one other person, these apartments are a little too expensive for me.

No, I don't think you guys are understanding the pricing when you say the prices aren't too bad. The 599.00 a month for the 4 bedroom apartment is PER PERSON, because these types of places give out individual leases per bedroom. That's why the smaller the apartment is in terms of bedroom and how many roommates you'll have, the higher the price goes. 650 for 3 bedroom, 699 for two bedroom, etc. If you guys think that's reasonable, you must be richer college students than I was!

Yeah, I realized that about a few hours after I posted that. Because of the twelve month lease, it ends up being more expensive than living on campus! I'd be surprised to see this place get many leases.

If the accommodations are nicer, then it could carve out a nitch. However, I think you might be right. Why would you spend more money only to be farther away from your classes? If you want to be that far away from campus, you can always rent rooms off campus and spend a LOT less

The one thing that might make the price somewhat worth it is the fact that these apartments will also come fully furnished with incredibly nice furniture and huge flat screen HD tvs in ever bedroom and the living area. Every bedroom has its own full bathroom as well, and the apartment prices include cable tv with HBO and high speed internet. I guess if you have the money, its not that bad of a deal everything considered. I certainly never had the moeny to live like that in college though. I was living scholarship check to scholarship check, with not a dime to spare in one Chaney Rentals broken down shacks!!

There is no way I could afford this when I was in college, but now after college, if I was single, oh yea!
The more I think about it, a lot of undergrads could "afford" this place if they used their financial aid(student loans and grants for some). If you plan on living in Akron year round like myself, then this would still be MUCH cheaper than living on campus for the summer. But it still obviously a lot more expensive than living somewhere like Fir Hill.In the end, I look at it this way. If I ended up going to case, even had I lived off campus while an upperclassmen, because of the high cost of tuition and fees there, I'd still be spending more money there than if I did decide to live in the 22 Exchange while at UA. UA is a true money saver.

I went there then transferred to UA... you're dead on... you'd save 10's of thousands of dollars going to UA and living at the new apartments. Makes me sick everytime I get a student loan bill from my 2 years at Case.
