pdt1420
Here's the first topic I've ever started and it comes as a rant after the 2nd cup of coffee but before the boring meeting I'm dreading...STO and FSN... is there any chance I can see an Akron basketball game ever, ever?I moved to Columbus and on top of the fact that I have to listen to Buckeyes pregame, game, postgame, call in shows, coach shows, fan run shows, homer fan run shows, homer play-by-play ran shows, and "oh, by the way, here's something about the cavs", I can't see an Akron game to save my ever loving life.Seems to me that FSN and STO service Ohio, whose second conference after the Big10 is the MAC... and the Big10 has it's own network now... so FSN and STO must be falling all over themselves to get some games on, right? Right??The closest I friggin' get is a CSU call-in show (throw up in my mouth) sandwiched between a replayed "Top 10 most zaniest and testosterone-fueled things to happen in a lockerroom show" (whoooooaaaa, I've never seen that Ryan Leaf footage before!!!) and a matchup of Duke vs West Virginia in Girls Basketball. HEY FSNOHIO.... ARE THERE MORE DUKE WOMENS BASKETBALL FANS IN OHIO THAN I THOUGHT? ARE THEY THE SILENT MAJORITY THAT WALKS AMONG US?Good freakin God... while I'm huddled around my laptop trying to pick up the game and hoping that 1350 doesn't wise up and cut its internet broadcast, the day to day programming on FSN and STO (save the cavs) makes me choose which is less painful: another half hour of being weirded out by Summer Sanders' shoulders or punching myself in the chest until I crap bone chips. So, um, what does everyone else think about this lack of coverage? Captain Kangaroo
I hear UA/Miami is on ONN (the only channel whose ratings ESPNU can ridicule) this Saturday at 4:30pm? Of course, as a Direct TV subscriber, it doesn't do much for me.
johnnyzip84
The lack of coverage totally sucks, but your fiery rage was first rate!
Bleacher Bum
STO has been working alot with CSU lately. Maybe I can get to the bottom of this since I work in the same building.
GJGood
pdt1420, I am with you. I am Columbus born and raised but an Akron alum and current resident of Patskala. The lack of coverage for a school so close by is amazing. What really irks me is how the local media in central Ohio always places stories about Ohio University, Miami, and BG ahead of any Akron stories as well.As far as STO, the only thing that it is good about it for me is the high school championships (as I am not a Cavs nor Indians fan), and even then other than the actual state championship games almost all the HS programming is NE Ohio-centric. I just want an Ohio network to showcase teams from all over Ohio.
zen
Why show mac ballgames to 120 sporadic viewers when you can fill the slot with contractually beneficial programming that gets 100 viewers, or you can get paid to show an infomercial to 3 viewers? zippyfan34
It looks like there are going to be 5 games televised. Both BG and Can't games along with the home game with Central. The BG away game this weekend is on ESPNU and the rest are on FSN. I guess that's good as I wasn't planning on making the trip to BG and so I'll get to see that game but the others I was planning on going anyways.http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/37439769.html
pdt1420
Thanks for the information. 5/6 out of 30 games, I guess I'll have to take it.It was so much better to see the actual game and form opinions of my own than have to listen on the radio and trust all of you to tell me how the Zips looked. (No offense to any posters). On another note, are there any Columbus members of Zipsnation that are interested in making a road trip to Athens for the Tuesday Jan 20th game?Anyone that feels like ditching work early, maybe we could get a caravan going. Let me know.Go Zips!
