72 Roo Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I love the excitement that is growing over our commit list, but in the final analysis I really only want to see us getting better than our peers i.e rest of the MAC. If we do that, one day we will be out of the piss-poor MAC conference and moving in circles that get more respect and attention. If we maintain the staus quo (in the MAC) we eventually will deteriorate with the rest of the programs. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 All I know is....I'll be extremely happy if JD and his staff can show that some positive improvements have been made to our defense between 08 and 09, as they did with our offense between 07 and 08. And anyone who can consistently make plays and tackle people would be a step in the right direction. Quote
pdt1420 Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 If our defense improves as much as the offense did last year, then we're the undisputed MAC champs, we probably win our bowl game and we win every game by an average score of 42-7. The offensive improvement was that good. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 And the part that was the most impressive to me was that we put together such a good passing game...despite the loss of Jabari Arthur. Quote
zff Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I am going to throw out a different name for Mr. X. Will Clarke 6-6 240 DE Quote
pdt1420 Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Jabari was a very good player, but I was thinking at the time that maybe it isn't a good thing to have one receiver who's light years ahead of the other WR's. If he's so much bigger, or so much faster than everyone else then it probably means 1) if this guy isn't actually an all-pro, then our other WR's are just weak, and 2) when it's crunch time and the QB is scrambling before a sack, is it really a good thing to lock on to just one guy and throw it to him come hell or high water?I think I'd rather have 3, 3 star WR's than one 5 star and a bunch of stiffs. skip-zip Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Good point pdt. It certainly worked out better to have a team of receivers, rather than one really good one. Although, I thought Jac made improvements, which certainly helped as well. Quote
