Captain Kangaroo Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 The early rumors of Mr. X's identity pointed to either Chris Henderson or Pitt DE verbal Will Clarke.Turns out it could be both. Quote
MRasor0200 Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Per Rivals:At 6'6" and with a 4.8 40 on his resume, Clarke appears to be a near-ideal fit for defensive end in Pitt's 4-3 system."That played a big part," he said. "When I went to the different camps I paid attention to the schemes and how they lined up and the technique they used. At Pitt, it won't be too hard to adjust to what they do with the ends, and I think I can fit in with their defense."Maybe a scheme change would entice him. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Does anyone know if we held one back for Clarke? That would be almost too good to be true. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 Maybe a scheme change would entice him. From what I can gather, the 3-3-5 isn't going anywhere. The mindset seems to be upgrading the talent level of players within the existing scheme. We'll see if there's any surprises in spring ball, but I don't expect any. Quote

skip-zip Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I'm more than happy to see us upgrade the level of talent on the defensive side of the ball. I'll leave the scheme up to the coaches. I'm just tired of seeing so many ball carriers slip out of the grasp of defenders. Quote

That way they don't have to change the name of the scheme. Everybody wins.Hans Christian Andersen is calling it 'The Emperor's New Scheme.' Quote
