The Hip Zip
I had to double click this morning to make sure I had the right site.. I like the new look, much cleaner. Still, it looks to be a work in progress as I had trouble with a few of the links. What do you think??
Dave in Green
I like the way it's laid out so that when you go from the clean, simple main page to the Men's Basketball schedule you get a big calendar of all the season games with links from each game to stats, etc. Nice job. zen
oh!I was just on there last night and it hadn't changed yet then.it doesn't look any less cluttered to me. In fact, I'm not sure it's not worse. Atleast with a menu down the left column you had your navigation right there

RootforRoo44
Man, it truly is awful. I like the colors and theme better but the whole layout is just terrible.
Zip Watcher
Put me down as preferring the new format over the old.I think it's better .. but I have one request / suggestion:It renders a page wider than 1024 .. lots of PC's / laptops are still using 1024 x 768 .. so GoZips now requires a horizontal scroll.Everything should be done to eliminate the need for side-to-side scrolling.Go Zips! ejcool27
has formatting issues on Firefox....maybe it was just the time of day and they're trying to fix it. Hopefully it's fixed and up soon. Looks really promising, but needs some work.

KentZip
Good God!!!!!That is HORRIBLE.How do you release something like that without a Beta group to test (all they would have had to do was ask us).Spread out over a country mile.Portions disappear as I scroll over them.I'll stop there.Take the site down if that is an "improvement". ZachTheZip
Well, they did put up a poll asking about the new design.I think it could use some work. I've noticed that whenever a website goes through a major overhaul, it essentially goes live while still in beta. Over the course of the next few weeks, you'll see things change, mostly minor things.Zipsnation has a scalable width, and I can't stand when other websites can't figure out how to do it. Usually it comes down to some advertising "web consultant" person telling them that the only way to place successful ads is in a rigid, outdated design that only serves to frustrate people using browsers or monitors made less than 6 years ago. tbozeglav
Simply put, this new design is a DRASTIC improvement over the previous design. Here are some of my thoughts as both a web developer and a Zips fan:[1] From a web developer's standpoint, this layout is much simpler than before. Instead of having the menus on the left, they have been condensed to Javascript menus that only show up when you hover over them. This leaves more room for content (and, unfortunately, ads).[2] From a fan's perspective, there's a lot more content put on the main page that previous. Also, all the images are finally undistorted and pixelated. [3] The colors are much more relaxed. Before, blue and gold were all in your face in every aspect of the web design. Now they are used as accent colors, much as they should be. [4] why why why why why do there have to be so many ads on gozips.com? Thank God I have adblock plus for firefox so that I never have to see any of them, but that leaves these ugly blank spots on the page. [5] The mini schedule at the bottom is very nice to have. Makes it easier for someone who may be double checking the time of a game tonight or tomorrow without having to navigate to each team's schedule page and then scrolling down to find the game.[6] Why the hell is the pole a pie graph? Every poll out there is always a bar graph with a %age. :facepalm:Thats all I can think of right now.I like the new design. Anything is better than what we had before. Good riddance to that ancient piece of web design.

Zip Watcher
I really like how it changes each time you load it.First time .. New Go Zips.Com .. a little different, but seems ok.Next time .. same, but some small formatting things amok.Third time .. it's the Picasso of Athletic Department Websites!!Fourth time .. back to the beginning.GoZips.Com is like a box of Chocolates! .. You never know what you're gonna get.I still favor the new .. once it's stabilized.
Z.I.P.
This comes to mind -WOW! I bet this would be really nice -- if it worked! But, it doesn't fit on the page (and doesn't even allow horizontal scroll); There are no links to anything except the few stories they allow; The top banners are doubled -- why?I'm sure I will find more problems. And I'm sure this will all be somewhat fixed. But probably not in time for the opening of Infocision Stadium. Put this on your resume, McAthletic Director. Zipfanofronburgundy
Generally, I lurk on this board whenever i'm in search of a good laugh and without fail, you guys consistently deliver. I figured i'd sign up today to inform you! As an Akron Alum, I think you guy's complaining is a joke. If you've got all these opinions why don't you do something about them (instead of messaging back and forth on this forum)? Thanks for the laughs guys, I REALLY mean that! Instead of bowing my head in my cubicle, dodging my boss till closing time, i'm sitting here laughing hysterically. You guy's will complain about anything, the website was redesigned (and as some have mentioned, is much cleaner looking, and better IMHO). Significant improvement from last site. BUT hey, let's keep on keeping on! What's next, concessions? Mountain dew didn't taste dew-y enough for you?? Keep 'em coming.

Zip Watcher
Dr. Z's photo's illustrate the Picasso-esq rendering I'm seeing sometimes.Regardless of that .. I don't think Mr. Burgendy's post merits him getting pounded like this!?Woah folks .. guy stated an opinion .. we all got them. This isn't macBBS now is it? Dave in Green
Can't speak for Firefox, but with IE7 I haven't seen any of the problems others have mentioned. I do have my advanced internet options set to empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed, so I get a clean site load. Don't know if not having that option checked may be causing problems for some. It has for me on other sites in the past before I changed that setting. Some browsers could trying to draw part of the site from cache. I won't pass judgement for another 2 weeks or so, when they have enough time to work the bugs out.
