UA Fan
According to the Sporting News NFL Draft issue (mock draft) on newstands now. Works for me. It would make a lot of Clevelanders take note and appreciate Akron Zips football if #5 becomes their starter. Nobody's giving CF much chance of being selected in Round 1 and I don't think the Brownies would pass him over in the 2nd round. Green Bay may have to look elsewhere for their next Brett Favre. Kangaroo Craig
I think it is possible. I don't believe that the Browns are very high on Luke McCown. Josh Harris was a cast off from Baltimore's practice squad. We all know that Baltimore wasn't very deep at that position to begin with, so getting booted from them doesn't say much. Harris was picked up by Davis last year as an insurance policy when all of Cleveland's quarterbacks were dropping like flies. Although Harris was a good quarterback in college, he is not the prototype NFL quarterback that Frye is. Dilfer is nothing more than a stop gap measure. Browns GM Phil Savage has already said that he will look to bolster that position further either through the draft or free agency. Since there is not "A quarterback of the future" left in free agency, that leaves the draft. I am not convinced though that Frye will be available at the top of the second round. I know what all the pundits are saying, but they are not running the NFL draft. I still think it is very possible that Frye will not last until the second round. If he doesn't get picked up by Green Bay late in the first round, then it opens the door for the Browns. The last "Local Boy" quarterback in Cleveland practically became a folk hero and he was from Boardman, OH played his college ball at Miami. Fla. Cleveland would be a great fit for #5. Dr Z
Josh Harris was a cast off from Baltimore's practice squad. He wasn't a "cast off" He was SIGNED to the Browns active roster off Balt practice squad. Ticked off a lot of people in Baltimore when it happened per Balt newspaper. Some guy named Savage was instumental in bringing him to Baltimore in the first place. Wonder were he is now??? Wouldn't count him out in Cleveland just yet. If they don't take defense early, it would surprise me. Of course many things the Browns do surprises me.
2005PANTHER
Then it would just be like the old days Ben vs. Charlie but different jerseys. I could see him going there. Maybe he could turn around the program for the better.

Buckzip
Get a stud linebacker in the first round, and CF in the second. Then load up on o-lineman.
fan37
Still don't think the Browns are smart enough to draft Frye--they did not draft Ben and I think the Browns drafted before the 'Burgh. I really don't pay attention to Pro ball (MLB NFL NBA) so I might be wrong but what little attention I do pay I think I'm right about Ben. The only difference between Ben and Charlie are about 4 wins per season.
GP1
The only difference between Ben and Charlie are about 4 wins per season. The key word in your message is "wins". One of those two QBs is a winner and the other is a guy who has to have one excuse after another made for his lack of winning. Four wins in football is a huge deal. It is frequently the difference between making the playoffs or not. For example, 12-4 gets you into the playoffs and probably one home game. 8-8 gets you nothing. zipalong
I PRAY Charlie is NOT drafted by the Browns! All through his college years he had to deal with a weak OL. I want him to go where he WILL have a strong OL. Who cares about the Browns anyways. When you look back at the last 10 years, not including when the Browns didn't exist, it was all smoke and mirrows. 50% winners!

As a Zips fan, I just hope he gets drafted and makes a lot of money for himself and sends some back to the school.
Zipsrifle
I hear you Zipsalong! Although I am a Browns fan, I don't want Charlie to go there. If he does and the Clowns do what they typically do (lose), then everyone in Cleveland will say..."See, that guy from Akron sucks". He'll be cast off and everyone in NE Ohio will continue to look at Akron as a D-II program and Charlie and his family will never hear the end of it. I hope he goes somewhere else, someplace that has some type of winning tradition. Someplace where he won't be thrown to the wolves right away, get the $#!+ kicked out of him and then told he sucks. If he falls on his face, big deal, nobody anywhere else in the country cares about Zips football and Charlie and his family won't have to put up with the constant BS from local fans. I hate Art Modell.
