  1. Cap'Roo, I disagree with you and agree with UAdavid. It was the worst organized event that I have attended! We were there for the team, yet they were not introduced, the Coaches were there, but again no intros, comments on upcoming season. We were moved three times for the food line, then ran out of drinks, etc.Payers were great, that's all I can say.
  2. Several posters are unhappy with the BB non legue schedule, how about if you are a Buckeye fan, and THREE of your games are with northeast Ohio teams, Akron, Can't, Youngstown. How do you feel about paying $60 plus for a ticket?
  3. The moving A goes back to the Faust era. The logo was changed to distinquish Akron, from ever other colleges that begins with an A, i.e. Arizona, Arkansas,, excetra, excetra, and so on and so forth!I think the new logo is great. I don't like it with the oval, everthing gets lost, but just the A and Roo head is great. I does not look like a donkey, if anything, more like the Penn State animal.
  4. Hey. if you're in State College, you can't forget the Creamery, which is about 2 blocks up from the stadium. Their ice cream is the full fat kind. Penn State offers a BS in Ice Cream making. They don't put any restrictions on their receips, so some of the major ice crem makers pick up ideas from here and market it under their own brand name.
  5. Yes, a full time head coach at UofA was paid 30K a year (Fox), that's why you would see him at sporting events/activities with a camera. He took pics for the "non-revenue" sports, pics of athletics for the various media guides.I don't know why we have a women's tennis team, they have nothing, have not done well since Bard left years ago.
  6. Well Balki, wrong again! I hang the same as you, maybe better, but to rebuff your statement, the softball players I had contact with liked Julie, her methods, and drive. There was never any hint as to her gender likes, or assocations. I've been a Zip for a long time, but I know just what Akron is, can do, and how it pays and who it plays, along with the MAC. It was pretty sad when Florida's asistant women's soccer coach was paid more than our men's head soccer coach. How would you like to be paid $30K a year as a head coach for one of our programs?Akron for many years was perceived as a city college by our Bodad of Trustees, little money was directed to athletics so once the move started it was hard to make the change. If you talk to Administration, not the athletic department, you will learn that it is next to impossible to bridge the gap; Akron will always be behind and pushing up. We can love and support the Zips through attendance and CONTRIBUTIONS, but we must also be realistic as to just what the University can do athletically. The Big Ten will always be better than the MAC, we are not on the same level, will never be on that level, a position as assistant coach at ANY Big Ten university is better than the same coaching postion at a MAC school. We have lost some great football coaches to universities at the next level, (Terrell, Jim) and ass-hole remarks were not made to or about them. I guess we can only reasonably talk about football and related items on this site, and sh-t talk about everything else not connected with football. It's small minded guys like you that makes me want to squeeze the ----------- out of you!I rarely make comments on this site because of the likes of you and IntheZONE, and BIGZIP with the black beard.
  7. I had not read all of the comments regarding Julie Wright leaving, so I want to add Balki Bartokomous to my previous comments. The gals on the softball team LOVED her, she had SOO muuch drive and enthousism, they learned more from her than in all the years Parker was coach. She was the bitch. Get you facts straight.
  8. Inthezone-----Will you ever change your pic which shows you wearing a K-ent cap, or is it because you're a K-ent fan in deguise, trying to make commits that cover your true connection, and it just doesn't come off.I don't think you EVER attended a UofA soccer or softball game, but you can make comments about both coaches leaving without ever have any contact with either of these coaches.I'm sick of your pic and sick of your comments!
  9. One has to have MONEY to be able to build a stadium. Taft (the education governor)is such a POOR governor regarding education, Ohio is ranked 49th in monies directed to education and associated items. Mississippi is 50th!Thee are NO BIG money donors, we have less that 1/3 of money required to start up a stadium. If any of you on this board know somone who has millions to direct to a stadium, tell them to contact Development. Until then, NO announcement is forth coming!
  10. Hey "IntheZone" when are you going to change your picture, I commented before about your K-ent State cap that you are wearing as you display you Zip poster!
  11. UIC stands for University of Illinois @ Chicago. Sinsus played his freshman year there before transferring to Akron.
  12. I have to say I too loved that cartoon and I HATE OSU!! They get more than their share of State funding. I'm a Michigan fan only because I HATE OSU.Run that again at the next home game.
  13. I like the sign "In the Zone" is holding up regarding the Zips and BCS, but why does he has a Knet cap on under hiz hood?
  14. At Ball we shot 3-13, but normally we're better. We have 5 or 6 who can hit the 3, even our center. We have 2 freshman who are really coming on strong and contribute. Our point guard is great at assists and has very few turnovers. Dambrot pushes defense and we play even or plus on rebounds. Students should be back and hopefully in force Sat. A zip win.
  15. Mario's parents live in Vegas, and his wife is from California, that about answers the question. During Shana's time hee she was pregnant and could not easily make friends and missed her family. As we know Lolla long streach here at Akron was because Tina is from the Canton area. Females like to be near their parents when there are small children involoved.
  16. The bid decider is that Mack Rhoades has a Master and Mike Waddell does not.
  17. Why does not my posting on 12/16 show on the Ken Lolla Leaving topic?
  18. Zipboy, there is NO reason that K. Lolla would be against a new A.D. He was on the committee that hired M. Thomas. There have already been a number of applicants in town that the Search Committee has interviewed, that is why French said a new A.D. will be announced soon. The University and Search Committee jumped right on the task.
  19. When the stadium is built it will be behind the field house and about 25000. Take it from there,
  20. All of you making negative comments about Ken Lolla probably never attended a soccer match or even heard Lolla give a speech. He was the top of the coaches at UofA. The Big East is a BIG difference than the MAC. They received SEVEN bids to the Party, we recevied ONE, The NCAA sees the Big East and its members as better caliber. It was a slap in the face that we received a #9 seeding. Ken thought it would be a 4 or 5 because of our one month at the top of the rankings before the seedings were announced. He thought think because he knew how the MAC was perceived. He was right the MAC hurts us. IPFW was added this year to the conference which makes the MAC have six members. At five with Kentucky withdrawing, we were on the edge of being dropped form an automatic bid. Do your research, when Steve Parker was here, we had good soccer, but how many times were we left out of the Party regardless of the total number of games we won. Akron played Lousiville two years ago, and I went to that match. They have a GREAT stadium, indoor restrooms, and a real concession building! Akron offered the money, but Ken wants to win a College Cup and at the present MAC standing that makes it very difficult. We have a GREAT team and I KNOW the University wants to keep the Assistant Coach and is working on it, regardless of what you see on the Zips web page. Whoever the next coach may be, IF all the present players stay, he can reaaly jump on and do really great! Look back and see how long it took Lolla to bring the soccer team back up. Many of you are worried if J. D. will be lured away and he's only been hee TWO years, Ken has been hee THIRTEEN (13) years and has had MANY, MANY offers in the past but stayed because of his wife's ties to the area. But it's time for a new challenge and a move ito a more promient soccer world for him. Wish he well and welcome the next coach and pray he stays for 13 years (regardless of the sport!) (How long will we keep Keith???)
  21. Just to keep you up to snuff, Mike Thomas was on the sidelines last night, and was there to hug and congratulate the team and coaches. His wife will be attending all the men's basketball games and they renewed their tickets and the family is remaining in Akron until the end of the school year.
  22. ABSOLUTELY NOT ZIPPYRIFLE32!!! You are not a soccer fan if you suggest playing soccer on the same field as football. Look at the mess Rhodes Area is, high school gym, square track (during track practices they open the door by the steps and started their runs by the walls ran through the door to the end of the track) and really useless courts. Guzzetta kept cutting down and insisting on a multi purpose facility which would up being what it is today, worst in the MAC. Thanks for the new field house. If they put soccer in the stadium that is a SURE way of Coach Lolla moving on to another university. If you have gone to Buffalo, their stadium is, as of this year, used for soccer. Awful. They have s soccer field, but didn't want to put more money into, so they moved it to their stadium, which short changes the soccer team. In soccer, you really want to be close to the pitch. Major colleges don't combine their facility, look at the 15-20 mil soccer stadiums that have gone up in the Big Ten, ACC, Pac 10, Big East. We don't want to take a step back, so keep those thoughts and suggestions to yourself! Go to a soccer match something, like maybe to Cary, North Carolina where the College Cup is being held next week end and you eyes and ears will be opened to really good soccer.
  23. The guy who announces women's basketball (Tommy) will be at St. John's doing the play by play call on the men's soccer game.
  24. Yes, the College Cup (which is the NCAA championships) is broadcast LIVE on ESPN, both men and women. The semi-finals are also broadcast. Get with the program, this has been true for years and years. The two best programs on campus for years and years has been men's soccer and riflery. Every other country in the world knows all about soccer, or as they call it football. They think we Americans (and I agree) are arrogant when we refer to our sports as the World Series, Super Bowl, etc., when they are only among United States teams. The World Cup in soccer is WORLD WIDE, including teams from South America, Europe, Asia, etc. We need to get our heads a little straight. I am a season ticket holder to Zip football, basketball, and attend soccer games. I am a true Blue and Gold fan and I am ALWAYS for the team who plays against Ohio State. I'm not for Can't State, (Can't does hold for me as we seem to lose to them in a number of sports) unless they are representing the MAC, then I'll cheer for them. I've expressed my doubts in the past about some of the posters on this site, and mostly just laugh at the remarks and leave it go at that. Have your fun guys so many of you appear to be a**es.
