Blue & Gold Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Did anyone else just catch KD's 5-minute segment on ESPN's First Take? Great interview; great exposure. The angle of the story, naturally, was LeBron's connection to the school and affinity for the Zips! Great stuff! Quote
zip37 Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Nope, never watch ESPN except for actual games, unless there is a heads up beforehand. Sorry I missed it! Can someone put up link? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Which channel was this on? ESPN, ESPN2? Quote

ZachTheZip Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 OK. I'm trying to see if I can bring up a clip. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Got it. Hope this works.Edit: not sure why there's an age warning. It's just ESPN. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Got it. Hope this works.Edit: not sure why there's an age warning. It's just ESPN.Worked great! Thank you! Quote
bUAkronG Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Not sure if this is the same interview I saw but there was a short interview with KD on an ESPNU Bracket Breakdown. He mentioned that LeBron texted him immediatey following the game to congratulate him. Was this the same interview? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 This was a different one. They covered the same topics, but they were two different interviews. This is a direct result of LeBron James. Simply being in the same city as him creates media interest. Wearing his shoes doesn't hurt, either. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Got it. Hope this works.Edit: not sure why there's an age warning. It's just ESPN.Dam-bro I sure hope CBS announcers can pronounce a 't'."finessefully", KD? "Midwest style of basketball"...I guess the line is only crossed if there's an intentional attempt to injure someone(?) (Dingletary) Quote
meatwad Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 "finessefully", KD? I liked that too haha. Quote
zip37 Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 ZippyRulz-- can we make that Dingleberry from now on? Quote
Zips Win! Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 That was an awful interview... He should have turned that one down. When I left the Q on Saturday evening, I believe guys like Nate and Humpty and Steve and Darryl and Nik and Chris and Brett etc. won that game.Yet, LBJ gets all this credit. It's embarrassing if you ask me, LBJ gives us some shoes and you all act like he's donated millions of dollars. The LBJ angle is as bad as the ESPN announcers were on Saturday evening.Personally, I give Keith and his staff and players credit for getting me to Portland. LBJ gets none. And these idiotic interviews need to stop.... Quote

And these idiotic interviews need to stop....what LBJ gives us is exposure. I agree that Nate, Nik, Humpty ect should get more credit than LBJ I do think that when you are a mid major in Ohio (especially with OSWHO down the road) you take whatever angle you can get untill you start winning and winning constantly. Quote
bUAkronG Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 wow, I just listened to the interview. The one on ESPNU was much better. It was shorter but it focused more on the team. I think they only mentioned LeBron briefly.Exposure is exposure, so long as it's positive I will take what I can get. Quote

We need all of the expose we can get and we should be thanking the perfect alignment of the planets and all of our lucky stars that the most famous athlete on the planet is a loyal Akronite and an outspoken Zips fan! Baloney! How many times has he ever stood on our sidelines or sat near our bench in a nationally televised game? Exactly ZERO times. Thus far, any run UA basketball gets with the media is:*The CMU comment*The shot*LBJI, for one, do not need to hear another word on any of them. The team, the NCAA bid and Zeke is what should be talked about.
