I found these shots on the "Photo Gallery" at the Gozips.com soccer site. Look at what's hanging around the necks of a couple of the Rowdies in these pix. Yes -- Akron Zips football/soccer scarves!!! I have never seen this, and I WANT ONE!!!! Where do I go? These photos were supposedly taken at last year's game versus New Mexico in Albuquerque, and I was there. But, I never saw these folks -- where were they??http://uaim.dyndns.info/photo_galleries/_A...ource/nmu03.htmhttp://uaim.dyndns.info/photo_galleries/_A...ource/nmu04.htm

Are you sure that these were taken in New Mexico?

That is not at New Mexico. That is at Lee Jackson Field during the Westfield Cup, a four-team tournament we hosted . We were playing New Mexico that night and won by a score of 3-1. The scarves that you saw, if you look closely enough, has the Zips logo and "Westfield Insurance" printed across them.http://www.gozips.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPS...p;Q_SEASON=2007We played at New Mexico on September 12, 2008. The pictures that you found were from August 31, 2007.

I'm unfamiliar with the soccer culture. Is it a tradition to wear a scarf of your team's colors? I did notice when SZ was drafted he put a Seattle Sounders scarf around him. I thought it was very cool.We should have Zips Soccer scarves made and available in the Info Team Shop!!!

There are all sorts of odd traditions out there. For example - I know that K.e.n.t. football recruits wear skirts and lipstick on signing day.

Mahalo, Josh. I forgot UNM played @Akron. Did they give away the scarves, or sell them? I remember calling to ask for a T-shirt from that tournament (the last Westfield Cup), and they told me they (Team Shop) weren't selling any. Guess I should have said "scarf" instead. And yes! It is a long-held football tradition. I saw a website (advertised in MLS Mag) that sells college soccer items including scarves, but mostly ACC/BigEast/UCLA types, not Zips. We're not in the Big Time. YET!

I've seen people with Adidas Zips soccer scarves at games...started seeing them 4 or 5 years ago, about the time that we signed with Adidas. Pretty cool and would definitely be a good seller.

And their basketball recruits wear orange jumpsuits on signing day.
