2009 Men's Soccer Fall Away-only Schedule - Road trip PlannerSept. 6: Sunday - at TulsaRoad Trip Comment: Too long a trip to head to no-man's land for a single matchSept. 13: Sunday - at CincinnatiRoad Trip Comment: The day after Infocision opens? No chance.Oct. 3: Saturday - at Florida AtlanticRoad Trip Comment: Boca Raton in October...tempting! No Zips football that weekend (bye) too. A shame FAU is so horrible, but watching the Zips win 9-0 might also be fun?.Oct. 7: Wednesday - at Illinois-ChicagoRoad Trip Comment: Mid-week trip to Chicago is a hassle.Oct. 10: Saturday - at Western MichiganRoad Trip Comment: Bells Brewing would be worth the trip by itself. Unfortunately, the Zips play OU @ Infocision that day.Oct. 13: Tuesday - at Virginia TechRoad Trip Comment: Would have been a great trip had the game been on a weekend. Va Tech treated us great when we were there for football several years ago.Oct. 20: Tuesday - at MichiganRoad Trip Comment: Not a bad drive for a mid-week match. But you can't make an "event" out of it. You'd just have to go for the game.Oct. 23: Friday - at BuffaloRoad Trip Comment: AWESOME! Play futbol @ Buffalo on Friday, then head to Syracuse for football on Saturday! THAT, my friends, is the dream college road trip weekend!
I don't know about the travelling opportunities (I won't be visiting any venues), but I can tell you that the trips to Va Tech and UIC will be the toughest games the Zips will play this year. Two nationally ranked teams on the road, during the week. Michigan will also be a tough one, but perhaps easier to be motivated? This is not a scheduled designed for a "team of destiny". Of course we would never be so arrogant. Would we? :D

I have to gladly second that! I was already planning on a return to the Carrier Dome, and with the UB Soccer game at 7:30 pm, it makes perfect sense to take that in as well and then hop back on the NY Thruway for the additional 2 to 2 1/2 hours to Syracuse. Perfect!

I'm hoping we have a high school game there every Friday night. Hoban - STVM have been playing at the Rubberbowl for years, as well as other City Series schools. I'm so excited about The Info that I'll probably go watch these high school games just so I can sit in, walk around, and gawk at our beautiful new stadium.
I think that attendance for HS games will be up quite a bit. I can guarantee that a large amount of people didn't go to the games because it meant having to go to the Rubber Bowl. The SVSM-Hoban game could have at least 15,000 people in attendance, with some of them there just for the opportunity to check out the stadium. Remember that UA gets a cut of the gate revenue and all of the concessions for all the games played there.
You could be right. I looked at last year's game info., and it said that they drew 10,000 to the Rubber Bowl, on what they were describing as a rainy and humid night. It just has always bothered me that local high school games could draw as well as, or better than, Akron's D-1A college team.

An early season lake effect snow and you could go cross-country skiing, as well!

* Moderator edited *I like this schedule. As other have mentioned, I would have loved to play a few more elite ACC teams, and I would LOVE to have a rematch against Northwestern just to show them how much of a fluke that game was. I'll still take it, though. What I don't like the most is October. We have 1 home game during that month compared to 6 away games. That will be a tough stretch for our guys. However, I guess it's fair considering our September schedule.19-0 anyone?

This seems like a fantastic schedule; we're playing a lot of powerhouse programs! Should be a lot of fun. I, however, wouldn't be surprised if we lose a handful of these games this year so I don't think we'll be ranked as highly as we were last year. But this tough of a schedule should really get us ready for the post-season tournament.

I think it is a very challenging schedule. Good for a team with National title aspirations. I'm glad we get Indiana at home, but I think we might as well just apply for Big Ten associate membership (and that way Northwestern can't keep ducking us:)). And why all the hate for Oklahoma State Unversity. It's a fine school. :D
