ZachTheZip Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Sounds like it's up to JD whether he will go or not.I would let him go to this. It would give him an experience that he'll never get while fighting for our third string QB spot this summer. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 If I were JD I think I'd be excited to have a recruit playing in the game. It seems like a good recruiting tool to me. Additionally, I'd assume most of the spectators @ this event will be from the area so it would be nice for them to see that UA has a recruit on this elite team. I'd have to think it would give our program some credibility. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Several years ago, Jabari was Canada's QB in this event.Tough call for Patrick. I guess I'd lean towards playing for the USA team. Then again, if the kid is really good, 3rd string QB for the Zips in 2009 might actually see some PT. Neither our #1 or #2 guys are taking the world by storm. Quote
Buckzip Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 WHy are you all assuming that he will be 3rd string QB?Am I the only one that remember Jordan Miller is still on the team?IIRC, he was pretty highly regarded coming in. Quote

It's interesting that part of the article reads as follows.Nicely is expected to redshirt this season and play for the Zips in 2010, but Akron now has an opening for third-string quarterback and the South standout could compete for the job as a true freshman. What do they mean by NOW? It's almost as if there is an implication that something has changed with the Zips QB depth chart from the time Nicely signed until just recently. Does this mean something has happened to Jordan Miller? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I thought Jared Wackerly was the 3rd string QB? Quote
xu9697 Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Color me confused= what does playing games June 27 to July 5th have to do with competing for the #3 spot? He can't officially practice with the team, though I know he can work out. Can he study 2 playbooks? That might be tough, but I would assume that the playbook for this type of thing is quite vanilla?I hear everyone about Miller, but ideally we see 1 year of Jacq (Rodgers with reps), 2 years of Rodgers (Nicely with reps in year 2) and 2 years of Nicely. It would seem ridiculous to burn a RS year when we have 2 guys that can play this year. If we get to #3 QB, we are in trouble either way.Play for the USA, learn from Chuck Kyle, get in more true game competition, pub for you and your school, etc. This seems to be a no brainer. Quote
