InTheZone Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Per another member of the Zips recieving corps, Jabari after a talk with JD is focusing strictly on reciever, and as of right now it's Getsy's job though Ferguson has been told if he is the better QB in camp, he will start. So I guess it's shifted for a Getsy-Arthur battle to a Getsy-Ferguson with Getsy the starter heading into the summer. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Well, I’m glad that JD made the decision this early. We need a clear cut leader throughout the fall. As for Jabari, you never know, Luke could go down with turf toe in the first game. Honestly, I was pulling for Jabari. He’s been here for a while, Luke kinda jumped ship so he could start. Sure he sat out a year, but that’s still the way I see it. In the end, I trust JD’s decision that we have the best QB behind center. I hope Jabari has a stellar season at WR. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I think the general board consensus was that a QB needed to be chosen early. If Jabari would have clearly separated himself in the Spring, I'm sure he would have won the job. It seems that each had their individual strengths and weaknesses, but when it came down to it, the Zips are a much better team with Getsy AND Jabari on the field than Jabari-only (Getsy isn't in the WR mix). The 2005 starting QB probably doesn't matter long-term...it seems like one of the two incoming Fr.s is "the future". As my buddy Dr. Z said...if Getsy can hand the ball off to Biggs and toss 8 yarders to Kasparek, we're in decent shape. Quote
zipper Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 And I keep forgetting our HC is probably the best WR coach in the country. Maybe that had something to do with Jabari's decision. Arthur is just such an athlete - maybe JD can turn him into another Larry Fitzgerald. Quote
Kangaroo Craig Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Does anyone know how fast Arthur is in the 40? If he has good speed, then I have no doubt that JD can turn him into something close to Larry Fitzgerald or Antonio Bryant. Also, I hope that Getsy has quick feet because unless the OL has vastly improved with a bunch of new guys, then he is going to be on his back a lot. Quote
