Ryno aka Menace
This is great but that still doesn't help when you have undersized receivers. And the 0-line still has to block inorder to pass or run. Let's hope he lives up to the hype.

If he can hand the ball off to Biggs...toss 8 yarders to Kasparek...and hit the occasional slant to Jabari or Hixson, he's 85% of the way there. I have to believe the 2005 game plan will be dramatically different than 2004's. Much less dependent upon the QB to make plays. The OL is obviously the biggest unknown. Probably 3 of the incoming Fr.'s will be relied upon to play serious game minutes. History bears-out that a bunch of Fr.s on the OL is a recipe for disaster. However, the incoming guys have some great HS accolades. Maybe they can gel as the season progresses?

However, the incoming guys have some great HS accolades. Maybe they can gel as the season progresses? Nice work Capt. After the spring game, I was much less worried about the OL than before the game. While they were not what we would want, they did look better than expected. When they did run, they moved the ball well. They seemed to spend a lot of time in the spring game passing. I expect the same out of the QB position next year as I don't think 2,600 yards is too much to ask out of a D-I QB. Throwing slants and to the TE makes it easy to reach that yardage amount. The real test is going to be the ability of the team to get first downs and control field positon. If they can do that, it puts our defense in a much better position to make a difference. I do think the defense will be better next year and if it is, the offense will have more chances to score and also have less yardage to gain prior to scoring. I still think we might see some really good things from this team next year.
Zipsrifle
I'm hopeful this year too. I agree that the OL will be a key factor. I took a peek at the Purdue depth chart and I think we'll get pushed up and down the field all day. They've got a bunch of upperclassman starting on the lines and I think our young guys won't be a physical match for them. We might have a lot of talent but it will be boys against men. I think JD did an excellent job of coaching last season so I think we can hold our own against most of the Mid-Majors. Lots of growing pains at the beginning of last season that we won't have to go through. If these young guys have a good work ethic, we'll have a decent year.
