xu9697
Can we get some consensus on which athletic departments are really putting $$$ into their facilities and athletic programs to make the MAC a better conference? We know what Akron is doing, has done and possibly has in the works, but what about other schools? BG has a new arena in the works, Miami has built a new hockey arena (I know, not a MAC sport). Temple has committed to a guy like Al Golden who seems to be a good, young coach. Same with Buffalo and Turner Gill, plus I thought there were plans to improve their football stadium.Just wondering what others think, what others know, etc.

I'm not even sure how "some consensus" could exist. A consensus is one of those things that you either have or you don't. You probably should have asked, "Can we get some uninformed opinion on.........." We are good at that.
ZachTheZip
It's hard to say. Some schools are trying to just stay afloat, and to invest a bit in their programs. Also, some schools are extremely committed to all their schools besides football, but not really to football itself (Can't and EMU fit this profile).I believe that it's football or bust in this climate. If your school doesn't have its main focus on football, you should drop to 1-AA where you can keep focus on your other sports.

The stadium is on campus less than 20 years old and seats 30K. The only real problem for it is the running track.UB is going to build a field house, and a new athletics center on the north end to close the stadium

Captain Kangaroo
Between the back of the scoreboard and the grass in the endzone seating area...I can't figure out which makes me more ANGRY! :mad_flame:Man...Zips fans sure like to bitch about the most petty, irrelevant stuff. Posts about the scoreboard back -- 121Posts regarding the actual football team -- 18I hear ya Captain. I compare this to political campaigns. Everyone has a right to their opinion but were all zip fans- lets try to be positive about what matters- not always negative about the trivial stuff. If youre a fan youll be in the INFO sitting down to watch the games. What do we really care about the outside of scoreboard or the lightpoles or the sod. I want to know if Bains back is OK, Martin's acl is healed, whos doing the kicking, etc.

Zipsrifle
Exactly! In all honesty, though, I rely on the more informed posters to educate me on the team as I never really had time to learn the finer details of the game! Hell, for the past 15 years the majority of my time has been focused on a target, in a book, on a computer, or with my hands covered in grease! Zipsrifle
I'm looking forward to making the trip to Buffalo this year as I have never been to UB. The one delema I have is do I take the Zip bus from UA with the rest of the fans, which we've never done or do we drive and man it a weekend? If you have a passport go over to the Canadian side, ite much better for tourist than the American side..
