Captain Kangaroo Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 No, the Captain is not smoking weed. You see a lot of posts stating no one can sit in the endzone because the slope is too steep...the grass it too new...etc. I figured I should look into it myself. Here is what is going on with the endzone grass seating --As of now, the grass berm will only be used for standing room if we reach maximum seating capacity. It is listed as "UA student standing room" but that may change based on student attendance. BTW -- This nice weather is really helping the grass take to the hillside. Depending upon television games, students and others might be encouraged to sit in the grass, as a full endzone looks pretty nice on TV. The Zips sold another 150 season tickets last week, so things are still rolling along very nicely! Quote
Zipmeister Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I still think concrete AKRON could make the grass seating more fun. To enhance the game experience, I suggest they water the grass down just prior to the game. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Geese, what's with all the worrying about the grass ;)I'm sure if youade the right donation you can have your "AKRON" in the endzone seating! Quote
psc2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I think that the grass is a nice touch. It reminds me a lot of Virginia's stadium. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 I think that the grass is a nice touch. It reminds me a lot of Virginia's stadium. It is not a coincidence. The stadium design was selected during the previous administration. AD Mike Thomas and Associate AD Mike Waddell were previously @ Virginia. An interesting note - From the original conception and approval, to the 1st game @ Infocision Stadium, UA will have had 4...and possibly 5 different Athletic Directors.
