GP1 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I think JZ84 requested me to post my review of this kid, so here it goes.He is better than advertised. I was expecting to see a running QB who couldn't throw very well and man was I wrong. The kid can do it all. There is a lot of raw talent there that needs to be developed.1. Extremely strong arm...threw the ball 75 yards in the air on one play.2. Makes good decisions passing. Did not have an interception yesterday.3. Makes good decisions in the running game (although I think their one turnover was a fumble of his, not sure). Reads the defense well running the option. Baylor has a very exciting and CREATIVE running game. I don't know how the rest of the season will play out for Baylor as their conference is very difficult, but they will only lose because of lack of talent and/or experience. Coaching will not be the problem.4. Good leader5. Extremely fast as is the entire Baylor offense.6. Needs a little better touch on long passes. Still a little young to master that.7. Griffin had a 60+ yard punt that went out of bounds around the Wake Forest 5 yard line.8. He needs to put some muscle on his body. A little frail after taking a hit.9. Learned yesterday he is a world class 400 meter hurdle runner. Ranked 17th in the world at one point. Wake's four turnovers to Baylor's one was the difference in the game. I would be surprised if either of these two teams finished above .500 for the year. Baylor is entertaining to watch and worth having one of the TVs at a sports bar showing their games. Quote

I had seen Griffin play on TV a few times last year, and he really blew me away by the combination of his athletic ability AND his grasp of the QB position (particularly at his age). I was really curious to see how his game looked IN PERSON, and it sounds from your account as though he's just as impressive as he looks on TV. I've heard comparisons to Michael Vick, but I don't think that gives Griffin enough credit. Vick was a much less polished college QB, even at his peak, than what I've already seen from Griffin. It'll be interesting to see how Baylor fairs in the Big 12. Thanks again. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Bump! I agree with Stewart Mandel. Griffin is my choice for Heismann winner in 2011. Quote
Dr Z Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 I have only seen one of his games this year, but I'm a fan. Huge arm. Kind of arm that would cut through NEO December cold. Quote
Lee Adams Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 I have only seen one of his games this year, but I'm a fan. Huge arm. Kind of arm that would cut through NEO December cold. The throw he made at the end of the OU game, while maybe not smart was impressive. Off his back foot about to be layed out,all arm no body. He moved around in the pocket, found an open receiver and got it to him. Might be a little more athletic version of #7 in Pittsburgh who used to play in the MAC. Quote
