psc2009
UA just put out a press release saying that Chris Jacquemain has been suspended indefinitely. Frankly, I'm stunned.http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=
johnnyzip84
Beacon LinkHere is the Beacon story. Apparently, ZIPCODE knew something! It'll be interesting to see who the backup is.
Roo2
Wow, that's a stunning development! Man, I would hate to have to burn Nicely's redshirt for one game, but he has to be the backup, right? I guess the big question is determining how long the suspension is actually going to last. Not what we needed the night before this game, that's for sure.
interfx
What an idiot, right before a "real" team in the new stadium...Hope the sophmore is ready to go!
psc2009
What an idiot, right before a "real" team in the new stadium...Hope the sophmore is ready to go!Rodgers looked pretty good in his limited action against Morgan State. The problem is that he is a run-first quarterback. There isn't much time for the Zips offense to adjust their game plan...
zipseuph
looking at it glass half full we aren't the only ones who have to adjust to this. I am dissapointed in Jaq
Zips fan
Unbelievable! I don't know what he did but it must be something severe. An indefinite suspension is a big deal. Let's go Matt! Get in there and earn your stay.

Get in there and earn your stay.Jacq's second skrewup. I hope JD keeps Rogers first on the depth chart. Or Matt plays the kind of game that keeps him on top of the chart. In either case, GO ZIPS! bUAkronG
My close source just let me know about this. You guys are fast! However this same source has said in the past that the offense looks more comfortable with Matt in the backfield. He also says that Matt's shoulder has been bugging him so keep an eye on that.I was super impressed with him last week. Let's hope he can grit it out and play well. Also, Jared Wackerly should be Rodger's backup.
Quickzips
Those of you who have been dreaming of Matt Rodgers under center just got your wish. Now lets just hope this doesn't turn into a nightmare.
you am i
The betting lines still have UA favored, but most of them have a 3 point spread, down from 4.5, which is what I saw this morning. I would think that losing your starting QB would result in a bigger drop, so I don't know if CJ's suspension has been factored in or not. All Ohio in football as well as baseball and lettered in basketball also. It sucks maybe having to not redshirt him but hey look at all the other true freshmen playing in the country. Bottom line is the Coaching staff will play the best guy. This is a business at the end of the day, and there jobs are on the line.Go Zips!! Otherwise. Wackerly.
UADavid
It's disappointing that your senior QB lacks the discipline needed to play. I guess the team had it right when they picked captains. It happened before but he was young and inexperienced. Senior year, Big 10 school, home game, favored to win. What a knucklehead. I hope the team did have some heads up and were able to make some plans with MR5.
Dr Z
I feel like I got punched in the gut when I read this. Very selfish. Such a big game for the fans. Not fair to us. I don't want him back in there the rest of the year. I'll be rooting on the players that can follow the rules and have a team first attitude. Good Luck Matt, It's your turn to shine, let the cream rise to the top. Huge decision for JD if he is put in the position to burn Patrick's RS. I hope he does what is necessary to win. Go Zips! Dave in Green
Very disappointing, especially for someone who went through it once before and should have learned a lesson. Regardless of what we fans may think, it's going to be awfully tough for Jacq to come back as a team leader and gain the respect of the rest of the players. Even if the suspension is only for one game, there's good reason to consider not having him return as the starting quarterback. But that's all up to the coaching staff based on their evaluation of what's best for the team.

For Jacq to do this now, of all times - right before arguably the biggest game in the growing programs history is inexcusable. The team (coaches) really may want to give serious consideration to simply moving forward with Rogers. Anyway, wow, what a blow.
UADavid
Wasn't Jacquemain's last suspension also against Indiana? I remember CJ7 had a big game against IU.
vmd9
Do you think we'll ever find out what he did wrong? I just hope it wasn't anything illegal, we don't want to turn into Can't state after all...
Dr Z
Do you think we'll ever find out what he did wrong? It really doesn't matter to me. Missing class, practice, curfew, drinking, or worse he is still out, that won't change. zipboy
The last time our starting QB went out with an injury, Charlie Frye led us down the field to beat OU. I hope Rodgers turns out to be that guy tomorrow. Here is also hoping for a 100 yard day from AA. Let's take the pressure off the kid.Kudos to JD, make or break year he still suspended the guy. If Rodgers goes down, you play the next best guy. I have to think that is Nicely.

akronad
As has already been stated "what a f---ing knucklehead. I have never bbena fan of Jaq, but if that is what the coaches had wanted, so be it. I wish Matt the best tomorrow , will be puling for him and the team the rest of the season. I hope Jaq acquires some metal splinters.
