ZachTheZip Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 This morning, a sign from on high came crashing down to UA's campus. Literally.Part of the "Infocision Stadium" sign on top of the press tower facing west came loose and went crashing down into the parking lot below during the windstorm (which, coincidentally is a a great metaphor for our season: a violent tempest which is bringing about a major change). The "-ium" section is now laying shattered on the ground. If anybody with a camera on campus can get a shot of it, both the tower and the wreckage, it would be much appreciated. This is a fitting symbol of all that we've seen in the past few weeks. Really makes you wonder... Quote
skip-zip Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 OK...the season might be falling apart, but please don't tell me the stadium is too. The tailgating and the stadium are about all I'm looking forward to right now. Quote
Zip Watcher Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Must have been a pretty localized wind storm. The Dix Stadium cams don't show any damage there: Quote
Zipmeister Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Word has it that the "ium" was removed intentionally to display the new football slogan acronym (Standing Tall After Defeat) prominently on the new stadium. I could be mistaken, however, about the words the acronym represents. Quote

zipsbandman Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 HA I walked right past it. I could have taken a shattered piece of plastic as a souvenir. It was all over the ground. Didn't think to get a picture but if you walk past the info it's right there. Quote

zipsbandman Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Even the Browns made this thread. Quote
Zipmeister Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 OK so apparently "Standing Tall After Defeat" gets a post deleted. How about "Sign Takes A Dive" - is that OK? Look another smiley face. Quote

tbozeglav Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 I guess they took the whole thing down. Noticed that there are no remnants of the sign on the press tower. Hopefully it was still under warranty. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 I sure hope the Structural Engineer responsible for this went somewhere other than UA! Of course, he or she can always blame in on the Aerodynamicist Quote
