ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I'm going to guess that we'll see 16,500 at the game this week. Anybody care to hazard guesses higher or lower?STZ Quote
vmd9 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 15,000 max...we all know Ohio State is playing Wisconsin at 3:30, we play at 6...chances are that game won't be over yet so maybe people would come later but I doubt it. Probably not many people tailgating unless they bring their tv's. probably no more than 3,000 students. On a saturday night why would they want to go to a football game when they can go to parties and get wasted? Thats what all the cool people do. Quote

ZachTheZip Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I think student attendance will be the highest yet because there are no wristbands to artificially limit attendance. It is homecoming, which usually gives us our highest attendance of the year, so I'll say we'll see 24k with 10k students. 72 Roo Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Most of the estimates of attendance seem to me to be based on wishes and not reality. Interest in Akron football has been killed. My guess is that attendance will be no more than 13,000, with only 10,000 actually in the seats. That's sad and tears my heart out, but I would argue that it is the most realistic estimate so far. If you can't get many fans out for a Big 11 team (Indiana) in perfect weather, with one of the most important games ever played on campus, you surely will not do better with a program that is imploding. Anything more optimistic is wishful thinking. Please Zip fans, step up and prove me wrong. But I doubt it will happen. We are in the dumper. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 15,000 with probably the highest OU contingent ever to see a game in Akron. Quote

This is about what I'm thinking.I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when I walked in to take my seat at the Indiana game. Why? Because I realized after only one game that many people had already returned to the "I don't have any interest in Akron or MAC football" mentality. 18,000 for a Big 10 team, in 70 degree sunny weather, won't remotely be matched by a game against OU in 50 degree weather. Forget the "homecoming atmosphere", and the OSWho game. Too many people have already decided that the novelty of coming to the new stadium is over. They decided that before we even had these last two poor performances. Apparently, many of the people who said that they would start coming when we left the Rubber Bowl were not telling the truth. ZipsAlum92 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 My prediction -- 10,000 topsA few factors are at work here:Ohio State plays Wisconsin at 3:30pmIt is going to be a chilly, and possibly wet, night gameOU is favored by 5 pointsZips are 1-3 Quote

ZippyTuba11 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Homecoming should get student turnout up. The frats are going to want to come out and support the Court they nominated.Parties happen after. 18k Quote
xu9697 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I think the better question is how many will be left if the stadium after halftime. Losing, rain and cold could lead to folks in the rich seats being able to easily count those that are left in the stands below them. Quote
g-mann17 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Weather will be brisk and partly cloudy high of 53 lows in the upper 30's. First game under the lights, homecoming, against OU.17525 Quote
zestycoyote Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Homecoming is usually a pretty big draw. On the other hand, this Zips team has disappointed beyond what anyone could have anticipated. The weather is looking like the coldest day of the week and a potential for rain.If it's raining, the only reason I'll be going is to see my girlfriend on in her dress.<18000 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Last I saw, it was going to be 53 but sunny. Quote
