UAM Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 The 2005 University of Akron football team will play host to its annual "Meet the Team" Day event tommorow from 1-3 p.m. in the Athletics Field House. Second-year head football coach J.D. Brookhart and the entire Zips squad will sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans. Posters and schedule cards will be available. Young fans will also have the opportunity to participate in the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick program. Girls and boys in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place-kicking in a fun and engaging forum. Winners in each division compete in sectional rounds held at a later date. Similar to ZIPSfest, the UA football gameday tailgating area at the Rubber Bowl, inflatables will be set up for use by young Zips fans. Saturday's event will also serve as Media Day for the Zips with all coaches and players available for interviews during the autograph and picture session. Parking is free in the east campus parking deck, Rhodes Arena lots and the Ocasek Natatorium lot on the corner of Spicer and Carroll streets. A complete schedule of events is listed below: 1 p.m. - Doors to field house open (the main entrance is located on the west side of the facility) 1-3 p.m. - NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick competition 1:15 p.m. - Team arrives on the field in game jerseys 1:15 p.m. - Voice of the Zips Steve French will introduce head coach J.D. zipsfan38 Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 One of the best posting sessions in a long time. Look for Getsy to play all of the first half and into the third, but I would not be surprised to see Feguson out there for a few series. A real game is a lot different from preseason scrimmages, like someone else said: Getsy could be a gamer. I am just glad sports are back. This summer seems like it has taken forever. Go Zips! (insert the steam whistle here) Quote
GP1 Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 UAM, Please bring back the car magnet with the kangaroo head. That is one of the best give away items ever. Buy 500 and sell them at 200% mark up. I bet you sell all of them. Quote

Zipsrifle Posted August 26, 2005 Report Posted August 26, 2005 I SECOND THAT!! I've been looking for a magnet for some time online. In fact, I'm working on making up some of my own magnets since UA doesn't appear to have any. They sell adhesive backed magnets at the craft stores. Vinyl costs an arm and a leg so I'm thinking about spraypainting the logo on the back of some clear plastic and sticking that to the magnet. We'll see how it goes. Oh, yea, when is the band going to put out a CD or something? I know KingZip thinks this stuff is "gay", but apparently there are lots of "gay" people who tailgate before college football games across the country. Quote
