Why is everyone speculating on players who are leaving? The coach got fired this morning... no one is saying these things with any sort of reliable information. It is fear mongering. Granted, I would happily take this type of fear mongering than the Bush administration's but it serves no purpose.Nicely will stay, Wagner will stay, and someone said something about Rodgers leaving... I bet he stays too. Do any of you realize the headache involved in transferring mid-career to another school? They go through multiple meetings with NCAA officials, leave their football family behind, miss a year, and have to transfer all of the credits. It would not be as big a deal for a player who had his sites on the NFL and was a blue chip prospect. Last time I checked, we did not have any of those. Those guys could deal with missing a year, play another, and then bolt for the NFL. If a guy left our system for another in hopes of a better chance at being an NFL player, more than likely it would present a red flag to scouts. Our guys, for the most part, are playing for their education.Let's get behind the AD. He made the decision we all have been clamoring for. I for one vote for an up and coming BCS assistant who wants to cut his teeth on reclamation project.

i'd love to know where Rodgers would go if he left...surely he wouldn't be playing QB there.

Regarding the incoming recruits, what's worse, trying to recruit kids to come play for a program that is in the absolute crapper and can't win for losing, or a program that has a new coaching staff in place with all of the uncertainty that comes with it? I was more worried about recruiting prospects as the season slid into the abyss, especially after Ferri went away, than I am now that Luis and Tom are dealing with the coaching staff issues.

Teams change coaches all the time. It works trust me. With a 17-31 record the past four seasons even JD wasn't surprised. It seems pretty easy to sell to a young mind, be it a recruit or current player, that we are not satisfied going 17-31, we wantto be 31-17. Don't you?

I think it is easy for an 18 year old mind to get into that positive mindset. It takes years of crushing reality before you figure out that trying to make a difference is very hard to do.

I find it offputting the worry here about recruits who committed under JD. Where have JD's recruits gotten us in the last several years? A couple have panned out well but I'm really not that worried about losing any of JD/Ferri's recruits at this point. This team is bad, and count me skeptical about the talent level here under JD. JD and his staff proved to be terrible recruiters, at least if the measure of recruiting is actual talent on the field that can impact games in positive ways. I know some of you talk up the talent-level on this team, but let's remember that we're talking about a team that in an entire year beat a couple of D-1 teams, teams that happened to be the only worse D-1 teams in the country than the Zips were. My great hope is that Luis and Tom see this as the next step in the building process. They plan to make an impact HC hire, and they plan to pay him and his staff a salary that will elevate this program. It IS about money folks, and UA cannot afford for this program to be a laughing stock anymore. Quality football teams spend a ton of money to make a ton of money. Once that impact hire is made, the real question will be whether our "prized" recruits are good enough anymore for this program. I say this to any JD recruit: if you were excited about playing for a terrible program under JD, that got worse every year he was here, and now you're not excited as the university looks to make the program BETTER, then go, because your desires and heart aren't where they need to be for you to impact this program positively. You should be excited to be coming to a program that not only offers first-rate facilities and education but that is now committing itself for the first time in decades to true excellence on the gridiron. If you aren't excited right now then you are not good enough to play here.

I'm not worried about guys leaving. I don't think many will.Think what you will about JD, but he left with class which is more than what the prior coach left with when he went out in a hissy fit and had a meeting with players at his house after getting fired. The tone JD set on the way out should keep most players here. The players need to embrace this as one of the first really adult things that will happen to them in their lives. People get fired, that's just the way it is. They all need to act like adults now and do their best for the new coach.

If I was a player, no way would I leave. You have one of the nicest facilities in the country to play/practice/train in. You will be coached by a fresh set of eyes which will allow you, the player, to show your talent and ability without any restrctions. You will have several more years to beat K*NT!! :screwks::cheers:

Who is that?
I know of only one player who is leaving, and he announced it more than a couple weeks ago.
Check your PMs.
Post it! It doesn't matter now.

GP1 is certainly right about JD leaving with class. The entire time he was here, I never heard one negative comment about the University come out of his mouth. He never bad mouthed the fans that constantly screamed for his head (justified or not), or the players that he coached. A class act to be sure, and I hope he lands on his feet somewhere.
