Zipmeister
Before we knew who he was, some posters suggested that the new HC might bring some of his recruits along with him. So now that we do know the HC how many of RI's ND recruits do you expect will decide to become a Zip? How many existing FI do you expect will transfer? How many are surprised UAkronkid wasn't the person to start this topic?

I'm interested in your insightful comments. By the way, my guesses are zero and 2. And I know Zach will be kicking himself for letting me beat him to the bunch on this critical topic. RootforRoo44
I have heard that in the coming days Coach Ianello will be meeting with some of JD's recruits that are still on the fence (or have changed their minds) about sticking with the program they committed to (this includes Hoobler). In terms of ND recruits, if just one or two change their minds and come to the Zips that will be AMAZING. I mean come on, i love Akron but getting a chance to attend Notre Dame to play football is quite an honor.

Perhaps some guys he was talking with, but couldn't get into ND, will decide to play for him at Akron. Remember these guys host a lot of recruits. Most don't get scholarship offers. Maybe he can get some guys here that weren't quite ND level talent but will be great UA talent.

I dont totally mean the football program but the fact that they would be going to Notre Dame to get a FREE education...it's a great school to have a diploma from, no doubt about that. Getting some UA talent to follow him would be good but I really do hope there a few ND talent guys that are just missing the cut academically that consider Akron instead.By the way as i speak channel 3 is actually mentioning the coaching hire and even playing a clip of Ianello from the press conference...WOW TV coverage! Dr Z
how many of RI's ND recruits do you expect will decide to become a Zip? I'll go with one (plus or minus one).
skip-zip
Again, as I said it another thread. Wouldn't it be nice if a couple of guys like Getsy and Biggs would come with the coach like we had happen last time we changed coaches? ccoon44
I hope he brings or at least recruits a kicker who can make field goals...I second That! 46.7 field goal percentage just doesn't cut it
Spin
I'm thinking Anthony Schrock will stay, seeing how the new HC is also a former WR coach.Fingers crossed...
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
JD's recruits didn't win, so I've come to the point where I'm not that concerned about the pending recruits. Hoobler already decided (apparently) that without the magical presence of JD Brookhart the Zips weren't attractive to him. So the facilities, the stadium, the clear intention to turn this program into a winner were less important to him than playing for a head coach who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. OK. Bye. I'm being facetious of course, but for a JD recruit to not at least wait to interact with the new head coach and staff and make a reasonable decision about their likely place in the program signals to me their heart wasn't in the right place to begin with. This team is better off without that kind of player. If we start with the assumption that Ianello is a very good recruiter with very good contacts and a solid reputation with high school coaches, we must then believe that he will recruit better players than JD ever did. My fervent hope is that very, very soon it won't be about whether these JD recruits want to remain committed to UA, but whether they are good enough to play for UA. RACER
see tee you make some good points.do we even want some of jd's recruits.he had not done much in the last few yearsas far as talent.we would probably be better off losing a few of them.save the scholly's for the new coach, and the players hewants.if a kid has already committed the university needs to honor that, but if we lose guys so be it.
