Inspirational story got me wondering....who was our player that overcame injury from a car accident where his best friend (who was in the Army) died? Amazing article, but I can't find the article. Anyone remember???

I hope he wins it. I respect him more than most of the scholarship guys. That takes some serious motivation. Good luck to him in his career here at UA and in life.
Ditto, but I predict he will come in second. The kid from Missouri also had a drug addicted mother AND she killed his father. The judges in these events really get into that kind of thing.

"Two non-AQ finalists for Rudy Award"OK what's a non-AQ?
A politically correct way of saying non-BCS.
OK what does AQ stand for?
Automatic Qualifier. The BCS conference champions automatically qualify for a spot in the BCS bowl games. The non-AQ conferences do not.

Did the yard gnome tell you that?It means that the individual did not initially meet the NCAA standard for eligibility.NCAA eligibility rules
Are you unaware of ESPN's blog on the "non-AQ" conferences? Graham Watson reports on the non-BCS conferences and she, along with the rest of ESPN, calls them the "non-AQ conferences" because the term non-BCS makes the BCS look exclusive (which it is).

No I had never read that. My bad, and I apologize to you and the rest of the board. Mostly though I am mad that I wasted my "yard gnome" comment. :(

Me too .. perhaps you can still use the "endzone grass hill gnome" sometime though.
Ok Rowdies out there, that is what I want to see next year, a group of blue and gold pointy hat wearing "endzone lawn gnomes".
