zff Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 SourceGVReport has learned that Grand Valley State will be receiving two new transfers, Norman Shuford, previously at Akron and Kyle McMahon from Eastern Michigan. McMahon, a quarterback who prepped at Pontiac Notre Dame, will have one year to play and is expected to be in the mix for the starting job. He has been a part time starter for the Eagles and appeared in six games last season. In his three year career at EMU, he has gone 151 for 278, 1752 yards, nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He has rushed for 241 yards and two touchdowns in that time. Shuford prepped at Farmington Hills Harrison and was tried at both cornerback and running back at Akron, redshirting his first year and playing sparingly a year ago. It is likely that he will move back to his high school position of running back at GVSU. GVReport will have more on these two players as well as other transfers and recruits Quote
Dr Z Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Looking at it from a positive, if Rob is supposed to be a "recruiting guru", it sure is nice to have more scholarships on hand.Good luck Norman. Quote

Was he a scholarship player? Exactly who are the scholarship players on the roster and how many are left for RI to use? Quote
ZachTheZip Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 It is good news for the recruiting class, at any rate, because our class this year is kind of small. Quote

coltrain69 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Alexander will be a SophTorrence will be a SophMartin will be a juniorI think he saw the writing on the wall.Actually shuford beat all of those guys out for the starting job comming out of augest camp and started the first three games. shuford has 3.5 speed and will b a great college player. after the firing of ferri he was not played any more. Monyomgery an brookhart made a lot of stupid decisions. Im not going to beat them up on here. I will say akron is a great school and a great town. I am related to shuford an i will say we have nothing but positive things to say about akron. However when a kid stips being play for no reason at all and when no other back has set themselves apart to b the go to back its dshearting for the kid.He (shuford) had good grades, never missed practice and according to his coaches was doing a great job.Someone on the outside looking in would have no idea of the crazy stuid things the old coaching staff was doing. The new head coach sad he was going to heavly recurit Ohio an Northern PA. we are from Michigan, so YOU. are rite WE CAN SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL. I will say his decision had nothing to do with alaxander, martin or torrence or alex allen. u can see him on utube also just search norman shuford. all that being said good luck Zips. We wish you and the city of akron the best. Quote

We wish you and the city of akron the best. Two things to think about:1) I wish him the very best at his new program. Hopefully he will shine, although I'm sorry to hear that he's leaving the program because I really think we're about to witness a strong upswing in UA football. It's a shame he's not going to be here for that.2) It really bums me out that we occasionally see posts from real insiders, guys who really know what is/was going on in the program, but they never stick around. How cool would it have been to understand, even in a generic sense, what the coaches were up to, where the areas of function/dysfunction were with JD and those idiots Harris and Montgomery? Why is it the Nation can't seem to attract real insiders with great gouge, and/or those insiders almost never post things that would keep the ZN in the loop? Best of luck and good health to you Norman. Quote
zippy5 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 he had 3.5 speed?!?!?!?! jesus why isn't he running track in the olympics? Quote

Since Shuford was already on the team, what does this have to do with the price of eggs? I hope he doesn't run into any adversities with his new team. Life is full of them. Good luck to him. Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Good luck to him and I certainly wish for nothing but the best. But I'll bet Shuford's lack of PT after the first few games of the season had nothing to do with a 2.0 yards/carry average over 28 carries (link) LinkBTW, doesn't AA's QB rating look pretty stellar? Quote
Buckzip Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks Mrs Shuford. I hope your son does well and we all pretty much agree about the staff. However, when given the chance your son showed nothing. Sounds like excuses. If he was that good, the new staff would be a reason for him to stay. They will be starting with a clean slate and the past means nothing. It would make more sense if he tranfered if JD was still here. Also, what does future recruiting areas have to do with current players on the team?3.5 wow. He should run track, he will set world records. he is faster that Usain Bolt.Good luck to him and I hope he does well. Quote
