Ball State is a winnable road game.Right now I see wins against Gardner Webb, Can't, WMU, Ball State, and Miami. Toss-ups against Buffalo and Syracuse. This is a ball-busting schedule IMHO. I wish an easier opponent was scheduled for homecoming. I don't want to be 1-4 and headed to K.E.N.T.
ZachTheZip
It's a bunch of road games bookended by two home stands. Kind of a rough schedule.

akronad
Two home dates during Holidays that I'm out of town. Same here. We are leaving on 11/16 and returning 11/27. I will still get 5 good tailgating dates in. 4 at home and the Can't shellacking.
xu9697
3 games in nice weather on Saturdays= 2 in Sept and Oct 2nd. That is good. Saturday, 10/23= also pretty good. Would have loved to get 1 more in Oct, but pretty happy with 4 Saturdays in Sept and Oct with potentially (historically) good weather.Hate the Wed game against Miami..but at least it is Miami. Should draw a bit better than, say, weeknight against Western Michigan. Two cold weather regions battling it out the day after Tgiving. Not horrible. Again, I like the idea of a game against a possibly budding rival in Buffalo on that date vs. Eastern Michigan. We can hope that both teams are 6-5 or better and battling for bowl bid (yes, I know 5-6 team could also battle for a bowl bid).As for the team itself..UK, IU and Northern Illinois..wow, brutal 3-week stretch! xu9697
I very well might take the trip to Kentucky.Wife's family lives in Indianapolis, so Indy and/or Ball State a possibility as well.

At no point do the Zips play two home MAC games in a row until the end of the year. Twice they play two MAC road games in a row.The Zips will start the season 1-3. Let's hope someone shows up for the NIU game.Until we know whether or not Coach I can turn talented kids into players, I'm goin with a five win season. ZachTheZip
This schedule puts a lot of pressure on winning at least one of the BCS games if we want to get to a bowl. The MAC screwed us again, killing our home-field advantage by giving us only two conference home games before the end of November.
akronad
Look at the bright side, we have 6 home games. There are 5 MAC schools that have only 5 home games (Miami,BG, CMU,EMU,& NIU) Also, people are complaining about 2 weeknight game, when in reality it is just the Miami game (Wed. night) that is a true weeknight game. The Buffalo game is the Friday after Thanksgiving, so there should be plenty of people attending. This is a tough schedule, but I think some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. This is a tough schedule, but I think some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.Yep, the usual suspects are out in full force. I'm starting to think some of these regulars on here have double screen names so they can post as the negaholics on Ohio.comIt's a good schedule. 'Cuse sucks, very winnable at home plus breaking in a freshman QB. 1AA guarantees a win. Kentucky and Indiana are BEATABLE. Kentucky is a middle range BCS and Indiana is a bottom feeder of the Big T(elev)en. You have to give yourself the opportunity to knock off a big boy. Some of you would rather have 1 chance a year to make some noise. There is NO reason this team shouldn't consistently be winning 5-6 MAC games, and do you think you're going to build a fan base by beating Middle Tennessee, Troy and Eastern Kentucky? There was a buzz after the NCState win. You've got to catch lightning in a bottle, not fart around with an extra session of crappy MAC-level teams. GP1
do you think you're going to build a fan base by beating Middle Tennessee, Troy and Eastern Kentucky?Yes, yes and yes. They aren't going to build a fan base by starting out the season 1-3 every year. Our basketball team just got smashed by a mid level mid major and they are a much better program than our football program. That game should have been an awakening for football fans as well. UofA does not have the players to compete against BCS level schools at this stage in college football. BCS schools have gotten better and MAC schools have gotten worse.Let's put the program in a position to succeed in lieu of ongoing failure in the hopes that once every five years, some BCS school in horrible circumstances will fall apart against the Zips. When you start out the year 1-3, casual fans think you are a 4-8 team so why bother?
