NIU fans are hoping for a rematch in Detroit...got me thinking.

Two Questions:

Could the Zips win the East? Is this realistic or just wishful thinking??

Consider this... everyone is looking past the Zips to Miami and BG.

Miami has 1 loss already (CMU) and plays their next MAC game @ NIU. NIU has a bye and has to live with the Akron game for an extra week. Their backs are against the wall. They will come out fired up. Miami has to be wondering what is going on as well. Should be a great game... But I give hte nod to the home team .. NIU.

That gives Miami 2 losses before they host BG. Never would have thought that. And they still have to face Akron.

BG hosts Akron then @ Can't State, @ Miami and then hosts Toledo... I would have originally said Akron loses but I think it could be a shoot out.... at Miami is not a gimme and Toledo has owned BG recently. BG could have two losses as well.

Bottom line. If the Zips win one of the two games vs Miami or BG... They could finish 7-1...if no let downs vs rest of schedule....

I think after last week there will not be anyone overlooking the Zips. NIU is a solid team and I would be shocked if they lost more than one more game the remainder of the season.

BGSU is really the team to beat in the MAC East. I don't care how bad they played last week, Boise is a good team and makes a lot of teams look bad on that blue rug.

We just beat NIU. Miami has already lost at home to a bad CMU team, and BG's defense couldn't stop St V's junior varsity. Buffalo...Can't...OU...? All W's.

The question is more like "Are the Zips the favorite to win the MAC East?"

I totally agree! No one on the national level will take notice until we beat Miami and BG. We have two ESPN games at the end of the year. Is it realistic to think that maybe Corso, Herbstreit and gang do a show from the RB? Remember last year when they covered the Miami/ BG game? Go Zips!

CK is right, I think we just got everyone's attention in the MAC. I think we've got a legitimate shot at the MAC East Championship. One game at a time though. JD will have the boys ready for CMU.

I think as critical as BG and Miami are I think OU could be the big test for the Zips. They played us pretty close last year and Solich has 'em firing on all cylinders pretty well early on in the season. Could be a game that we could overlook and therefore get upset at. Doubtful that JD would let the guys overlook it but it could happen.

Despite being on the road much of this early season Central Michigan has been very competitive. They gave Indiana a tough game at Bloomington. Then the Chips BEAT Miami (OH) at Oxford. On the road again they lose 40-3 to Penn State. Finally at home CMU loses in OT to an improved Eastern Michigan team. So the Zips need to keep their feet on the ground and concentrate on the advancing Chippewas.

Quickzips, you da man. Definitely, we should be careful against OU, but CMU comes first so therefore... :gun::gun::gun::gun::screwks:
